Thanks for the life update Erica. You know I’m a supporter and definitely pulling for you guys to do well and have a great experience. I think it’s really smart that you’re willing to move. I’ve often heard it said that people can get stuck in a certain place and when they’re not willing to move for better opportunities it really sets them back so I think it’s very brave and really smart that you’re willing to do that because it certainly seems necessary at this point. Very proud of you!

I follow you from California so welcome. I love California and hope it embraces you as it did me. As far as the rockwall, I immediately had buyers remorse for the lack of care for fit and finish. The crappy pocket clip needed to be filed back so it wouldn’t irritate my hand and it took some fiddling to get it to open smoothly. The machining on the clip is very intricate and cool but precludes any aftermarket cure. My blade was decently sharp but the grinds were uneven. For $300 it falls well short. I wish you well on your journey.

My rockwall came medium shaving sharp from the factory. It's been holding up fine, I'm excited to put my own edge on it to see how sharp I can get it.

I was opening bags of ice before I went camping and left mine on the roof of my car. It's flew off my car at 60 MPH on the freeway .I didn't notice that it was missing for another 45 minutes. I did eventually notice and went back and retrieved it. Sent it back to tactile turn , and they completely rebuilt the knife, and sent it back to me. They only charged me like $45. Working with Mike was great !!! Had you contacted them and told them about your issue I'm quite certain they would have made it 100% right... But I 100% believe they would have made everything right if you had contacted them before you made a bad video about them.... Love your channel and will continue to watch. 🤙🏼

Nice to see other people's experiences on that particular knife. My experience has been a bit different. I felt that the steel felt softer than the other 3 knives I have in magnacut. I did start at a lower grit diamond stone, but the sharpening process was great and deburred really nicely and strop back good as well. I think it's great for basic edc tasks but overall not for me.

Seems there's a ton of potential for agressive polished edges, since edge toothiness isn't directly coupled with bevel roughness. Excited to see what you find!

I watched your first video on this knife and am happy that you’ve resolved the edge issue. I agree that the QC should have been much better for the money. And absolutely agree with your views on the clip - I’ve never liked it and I finally removed it. The ergonomics improved enormously after that, easily becoming one of the most comfortable in hand knives I have. Best wishes for your big move!

As you said, Tactile makes excellent pens. I have one as well and I love it. Knives are new to them, they didn't hit a home run but from what we saw, they do have potential. If they can get there knives as good as their pens, well, that would be amazing. Let's see what happens.

If you want to collect data points, my Rockwall was very sharp out of the box, no burr, and has held up well under admittedly light use.

I looked at the Tactile Turn KnifeJoy exclusive; it’s got a better texture on the scales (sorta dragon scaled and a little darker) idk if they’re magnacut or 20cv

The issue with the tactile knife is exactly why I don’t stray to far away from Benchmade. I usually only buy USA made Kershaw and Benchmades.

In my experience the Naniwa stones above 1k always feel glassy on high alloy steel. If I've learned anything from Shawn is those stones are right on the edge of being able to cope with those higher levels of vanadium carbides. Oh and I was the guy who made that comment about Seki City Spyderco models. Good luck on getting you and Nicole on the road and into the future in Cali!

Great video. I just got the rockwall recently and I’m glad to know the steel felt hard still. I was a little worried seeing the 61 but glad your edge was easily applied. I’d say it’s “tough enough” for most EDC jobs. I have to say I really like the knife in terms of; size, action, feel. I’m a fan of the blade shape as well. I do agree that QC needs to step up. In GENERAL with all knife companies. Out of the box I should have to take apart immediately to get good action, eliminate blade play, worse vertical play, and it should CUT with a good edge. This is not aimed at tactile but every knife company. These prices lately are sky rocketed, so then the QC needs to match that. As always great video and have you ever thought of offering a sharpening business? I think it would do well. Sometimes I don’t understand everything you say about sharpening but I’m trying to learn 😂

Give me another option then
@Frizzlefry72 жыл бұрын
@@ericasedc That is fair, and I'm sure I could come up with some options after doing a little digging. To start with Commiefornia is just insane. If I needed to relocate my family and just "see how it goes" Cali would be on the short list of places you should not go. If you have a job lined up or housing then that obviously a different story. On top of that short list would also be NYC and probably a lot of Texas as that's where all those folks are moving to. To make things even worse though, is many local governments there don't even allow you to have more than three or four dogs. So you definitely need to look that up before you pack up the van. I know everything is going up in many states but I feel rolling the dice on Cali is just crazy. For your sake though, hopefully you can prove everyone wrong and find something great if that's what you both decide to do. I would suggest somewhere in Northern Cali or in the boons so you're away from most of the shit heads but I'm sure the cost there is almost as bad as being in or right outside a major city.

@anthonybickford59902 жыл бұрын
I live in California and I cannot recommend enough that you not relocate here. I know you have to find a home, so I implore you to look elsewhere. It’s too expensive, too impoverished, and too unfree. What good is making $15-20/hour when a 1BR goes for $3k and up? Are you ready to bid for a remodeling job against the Mexican laborer and his Haitian crew who commute from Tijuana? Are you ready to pay $230 to register your car and $6/gal to fill it up? And that's if you don't have to make any expensive repairs to pass smog. You'll get nickeled and dimed everywhere you go. $0.10 for a bag at the store, extra fees on lumber and electronics. What about supporting the addicts on the streets and their open-air drug markets that stretch for blocks and blocks? Whatsmore, California is still suffering from the effects of the first, hardest, and longest lockdown in the US. That created a climate of fear in an already submissive population, which voted to reelect the guy who shut down our small businesses, schools, and churches all while keeping his own restaurant open. You'll notice the difference from NH right away. I know there's not much happening in NH. I myself left upstate NY for the same reason. But there are plenty of up-and-coming cities out there that don't set records for the number of outbound U-Hauls rented by ignorant suburbanites priced out of the state by the same policies they enthusiastically supported. Once I can convince my wife to leave, we're out too. Fortunately, CA is making it easier for me lately. My wife needed an urgent medical treatment but the clinic wouldn't let her in with our young daughter because "covid." She couldn't just leave her in the car so she went down to TJ and got her treatment right away, daughter-in-hand. And this past weekend we lost power for a few hours in the middle of a heat wave because CA has been shutting down our nuclear power plants because "muh climate." I'm one of the anonymous donors on your GF and I really enjoy your content. Good luck, and keep up the good work!

What California makes AR15 manufacturers do to the rifle’s pistol grip in order to make it legal there is alone reason enough for me to avoid the state like the plague. It’s the goofiest thing. The only possible thing California beats other states in is climate but overall it sucks for the reasons others have cited.
