I am definitely late to the party, but can I just say, thank you so much. As a child who hated math, and as a girl who was always told, 'You can't do math', I grew up hating anything with numbers. A negative divided by a negative make a positive. So the answer in your example would be 15/11

It will work either way as long as you pick one point to be (x1, y1) and the other point to be (x2, y2). Slope is consistent so as long as you pick any two points on a line, it will work out. If you do make point 1 (x1,y1) to the right of point 2 (x2, y2) you might end up with a bunch of negative numbers, but if you resolve them correctly, you'll always get the correct answer no matter what points you choose on a line.
