Wow. I paused this video 35 secs in and had a look at my own swing. I thought I could fix my early extension only using more rotation , but clearly I need to have a look at my steep shaft too. Always so darn to the point Eric. You showing the shaft leading to early extension was an exact replica of my swing.

Yessir! I would say the steep shaft is #1 or #2 cause of EE. Poor setup with hips too far back and open club face also in there

Great video Eric - this in a nutshell fixes 98% of golfers. I like you am now working on reducing this - how to be in these 'stronger' positions but keep it to a 3-yard draw - but this is 5 light-years away from my old timing flip hands at impact swing. Now I do a JT pre-shot backswing of seeing the club outside the hands at 1st parallel for width and then I do a supermini, Matt Wolf tennis loop, to feel the club behind the hands at 2nd parallel with right-wrist extension - and it's working - just seeing & feeling those 2 positions as my pre-shot routine

Hi Eric. If you shallow too much and are below the plane what is the likely consequence?- Blocks to the right, early extension maybe? I think I'm shallowing too much and my swing at the bottom as gone to hell

I've watched several videos with great success but my question is that seeing so much acceleration through the ball, when should that begin?. It seems that is isn't always from the top which might cause too much throw. Think that is missing piece for me to hit it a tad further or with more force. Thanks in advance for your help. Wish I could come there for a lesson.
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
I would have the acceleration be steady. Too much too fast just as bad as the opposite. I like finding tempo like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2TEgYyYZruDadU

Can you consider a video on "finishing low left" drills for those of us that get "shallow", but our path is too inside/out? We know we need to learn how to rotate, but don't. A drill would be great. I'll check previous vids for it, as well. Thanks EC.

Sir Cogorno, Long time watcher, first time commentator here. Quick "Q" for you. I'm kind of a physics nerd and I heard you reference the "balance point" on the shaft. I'm curious, if the balance point of the shaft would also be it's center of mass?

Is it fair to say that the hands (at the top of the swing) should be inline with your right shoulder? Getting back further than that you risk flipping, early extension even?
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hey Hansi! Nope--many players get slightly behind the right shoulder. I do not see a correlation between specifically that and flipping. In fact I would say the opposite about early extension. Many people who get hands too far UP not IN early extend to lower the arms and shallow shaft in downswing kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJrJiWt3pdyceM0

@@CogornoGolf ok, thank you. I watched a few top players after I wrote the question and I could see they were slightly behind the right shoulder. Flipping occurs more if you lean against the target or dont get enought width at the top Im guessing. Thanks!!

Eric, can this drill be done with longer irons (4i-6i), D, FWs, and Hy to help get those clubs shallowed and coming from the inside as well? I’m guessing not really? So if not, is there a drill to get these same feels and shallower plane with these longer clubs? I did this drill station today for about an hour and a half on the range and while a few shots came off the club crisp, most of them resulted in toey, lower flighted pull hooks that felt like hitting a brick 🧱 with the club, vibrating the entire club in my hands making it and the club face twist open but the result was that low pull hook? Also felt at times like the club was seeping through the ball instead of hitting down on the ball with compression (9i). Have no idea 🤷♂️ why?? I was steadfast in setting up the station like you instructed in the video. Do these issues sound familiar or even relevant to this drill station, or am I just doing something Wrong 🤦? @CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hey Richard! I would spend an entire week at 10% speed. Then 20% speed week 2 I would look at it like a 90 day plan Add 10% speed each week That will take discipline but will work!! By the end of 90 days (12 weeks) you would be able to do it full speed. Its like learning Spanish 1 in 9th grade and going right to a Spanish speaking country and wondering why you can't do it :) It takes time :) www.cogornogolf.com would love to have you on the team and help guide your improvement!

Some of this is a complete contradiction of what was said in the video you did with Mike Malaska and his teachings, us you tube fans are being tied in knots.....
@legend90183 жыл бұрын
Didn’t see that video but Mike is big on how the wrists work in the swing and not so much about shallowing the shaft so I can see how there’s a contradiction. Point may be that you have to try several things and see what works for you and your unique swing, delivery, etc.
@BeefyPreacher3 жыл бұрын
Mike explains the difference in that video. Mike teaches how to shallow the arms while keeping the club in front of the hands, Eric teaches how to shallow the shaft more with the body, and having a body driven swing. They agree on the fact the club should shallow, and positions the club should be in, but Mike teaches a shallowing of the arms. I like Mike’s way to shallow a lot, it’s easier on my back, and is mostly directing the path of the club. I’ve been dabbling in Eric’s too, I’m just not got at the body-driven swing. I’d recommend trying both and seeing which one works better for you ❤️
