Always an interesting collection you compile! I will add the Godwin and Herrera to my TBR. Thanks!

I loved the Plains. Thoughtful and insightful with a clever seasonal backdrop. The way the narrators daily life is interrupted by memories of the end of a relationship is beautifully done and their story gradually unfolds throughout the novel. An excellent read and would love to hear what you think about it.

That’s good to know, I’ll try to prioritise it. Thank you!

That Max Porter book sounds wonderful. And I am super eager to read the new Jonathan Coe. It sounds like a lot of fun. Love the cozy reading time that colder weather and longer nights brings!

Lots of lovely new titles. I am now in possession of the Jonathan Coe. I really enjoy his books and never feel he gets enough if any attention on booktube etc. so good that he’s on your list Eric. Thanks 😊

Yes, I've been thinking about rereading his novel What a Carve Up! too because I remember enjoying it so much.

Hello, Eric! Federico Falco is a very good writer, I love 'The plains', his short fiction and a little novella that I don't think is yet translated called 'Cielos de Córdoba'. For Bolaño I would not recommend to start with his short stories, although I love all his work he is a much better novelist. The perfect start would be a short novel as 'Distant star', and '2666' is composed of five interconnected novels and all of them are great. Thanks for the video as always.

I've just finished She's Always Hungry! It was the first Eliza Clark I've read too. Good way to sample her work, I agree. The stories that stood out to me were Build a Body Like Mine and The Shadow over Little Chitaly. It would be interesting to hear which you prefer and what you think of the collection as a whole.

Ordered The Echoes last night. It's very reasonably priced on Amazon USA but not available until February, so I got the paperback but still must wait until almost Christmas. Am looking forward to it. Apparently it's about a ghost who's not ready to let go of his loved one. I feel that way sometimes. I feel sometimes I'm not the same person I was fifty years ago, and maybe there's a parallel there? idk, I guess maybe I'll need first to read it, right!

I do like the sound of some of those. But they're mostly by authors whose other books still sit unread on my shelf. Although, Bolano short stories sound like an interesting place to start. Maybe I'll ask my library to get it.

It's where I'm keen to start before committing to one of his giant books.

My ear worm is now “ those daring young men in the flying trapeze”. You’re probably too young to remember it Eric. I’m waiting to see who wins the various categories in the An Post Irish book awards. Bitterly cold here. About -2 tonight. We have snow, ice and bitterly cold north wind.

And what about all those magnificent men in their flying machines?

Yes, it’ll be exciting to see who wins. Stay warm!

Mid-roll advertising ruined an otherwise interesting video
@EricKarlAnderson6 күн бұрын
I'm so sorry your viewing experience has been ruined. I've not had a raise at my full time job (even for inflation) for over a decade and money is tight so I've taken the opportunity for sponsorship as an additional source of income to make ends meet. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to keep making so many videos. And I've only done this for this light which I do genuinely use and really enjoy. I make sure to time stamp the video so it can be easily skipped over by people who find the interruption so horribly disruptive.

@ Thank you for your response. I didn’t expect one. I am glad a warning of up upcoming advertisement is amongst the Chapters listed below your video so I can easily skip over it. Placing an ad at the centre as opposed to the end provides more ££££ from sponsors. As a principle, I never buy a product that is unsolicited advertising.
