[Eric] I was very happy with how that night turned out. We knew Derek and Heather’s work and we’ve been communicating for quite a while with them about light painting, but you never really know what to expect when you meet people for real. It basically felt like meeting with old friends. We knew right away it would be a beautiful moment. To me, Derek is probably one of the best in this field. He’s really following the spirit of the technique and he’s been there almost since the beginning. It was very interesting to have conversations about small details on the technique with other people that share the same passion for it.
[Kim] Derek and Heather have a very different workflow and rhythm than Eric and I, which was very interesting to witness. They understand the technique and make it their own. They also make a beautiful team as they complement each other very well.
Meeting with folks from the tribe is part of the global evolution of this tube light-painting technique and it’s partly through these amazing collaborations that we all grow together.
--- About the Tube Stories
We are Kim Henry and Eric Paré. We are a dancer/photographer duo making our way using a tube, a feather, and a flashlight. Everything we do is lit by hand, one frame at a time. Light-painting for us is a lifestyle, and this is what we share with our audience. The purpose of the Tube Stories is to bring a brighter and more colorful night to whoever is going to cross our path. Our work has been presented on the BBC, CNN, MTV, VICE, TEDx and much more.
