Another E35-2 owner here. They sail beautifully! The big to watch out for is water damage to the upper shroud chain plates. I had to replace 3 of 4 bulkheads. Welcome to the Ericson fan club there’s a lot of us out there.

Hey Markus, Thanks for the tour. I am actually in the same harbor as Leif below and we are friends. I bought my E35-2 in 2007. It is often said, the happiest two days of a sailors life is the day they buy it and the day they sell it. I do not happen to feel the anxiousness to sell her. My boat was build in 1972 and in similar shape to what you have... leaking fuel tank etc. I have done a lot to it to bring it back into shape... still a lot of finish work to do. I personally think the only engine for that boat, considering the engine is under the settee is the Atomic 4. It's not just easy to work on, it also helps with displacement and balance. It's also smoother and quieter than a diesel. I put an electric fuel pump with along with an electric shut off solenoid as well as the standard ball valve. I do think the next engine step may be electric, so I am also keeping my ears and eyes open. As for the track on the fore deck, it's for a cutter rig. E35-2's were often configured that way for racing.

Hi there, thanks a bunch for your comment. You are absolutely right about the engine being situated under the salon settee balances the boat out in a great way. Also, one has overall good access to it. The Ericson 35 is a really awesome sailboat. However, we ended up selling ours end of last year. Enjoy sailing it. You are in a very good spot. Fair winds. Cheers!

You're no fool to be wary of gasoline. Though never injured I have had a few illustrations of just how volatile gas and its fumes can be. Im convinced that many, many people have gotten lucky given how careless they are with gas. Ask any auto shop owner. He will likely have a story and scars to match. The worst diesel is likely to ever do is smell bad. Lasts a lot longer too.

Hi there, thank you much for your comment. I really appreciate it. I totally agree with you. I would take an old diesel anytime over the best kept inboard gasoline engine. Cheers!

@SAILINGGOODOLDBOATS I have too look into it further but large battery banks for electric propulsion seems to have significant risks
