@wondeboy12 hes an olympian,an olympiad is the actual games themselves.Hed laugh at tkd not judo,but erik was never elite at judo.Erik would have been training in shootwrestling with nakamura at dans from the late 80s and that had lots of wrestling and judo.

@jukido987 Paulson is showing great Sambo, Judo and catch wrestling techniques. Imagine him in his prime in the UFC,he would submit Noguera knock out Randy Couture and take the heavyweight championship in a heartbeat!

great video, thanks for uploading. whats awesome in this video that you can see about paulson, is that each thing he illustrates is really only 1 of 7 or 8 options for combinations, counters, recounters ect. it would take a long time of training with him to see even half of what he has on tap in terms of technique

@jukido987 Yeah, combination of injuries and not having to cut to 205 or below anymore. I mean he's fought guys like Hume and Newton, and they're generally 170-185lbs weigh in weight. Also I think the long hair was for a film he was doing (one of the Kickboxer films)

@scarred10 Argue with Blatnick on this one an olympiad himself.I'll trust his opinion over a trolls anyday ;) TKD as a fighting art has plenty of flaws,but that said being an olympiad at it means you will have a alot of posatives flexability,propriception,a handful of extremly useful kicks & he was doing this with Judo. I dont think anyone as smart as Dan inosanto would say "dont be an olympic level athlete because I will laugh" you make it sound like he was doing ping pong or skeet shooting.
@wondeboy1213 жыл бұрын
@scarred10 No, he wouldn't. If you are an olympic level athlete at something there a damn good chance you are one sharp wepon when taking into account your ability. Do I look like jeff blatnick to you? I said debate with him on the matter, he brought it up when interviewing paulson & they discussed it at length.

@scarred10 TKD was a demo sport in 88 & 92, there where still medals to be had even if they didnt add to the country tallies. Jeff Blatnick begs to differ on that one & he's mentioned it during interviews & during the 2 fights he comintated of paulsons. But I did get the impression his judo looked more greco with a slick armbar and little else until he branched out.

@wondeboy12 he wasnt an oympic hopeful in tkd anyway,it wasnt in the olympics until 1996,by which time erik had almost finished his mma career.I know erik did some judo but was never elite standard and really only started getting good at newaza with the gracies and machados in the 90s

@billysue2 He was at his peak as a middleweight (shootos light heavyweight) when he returned in 2007 he was an incredibly watery looking 213lb he could lost a large number of lbs & likly could of gained a bit more muscle to be a fit shade over 200lbs, but even as a youngerman he wouldn't be much over that unless he juiced. He has also gone on the record saying throughout his fight career he usually lost about 10lbs to make weight so reading into this it likly means he was like 195lbs
@scarred1013 жыл бұрын
@wondeboy12 erik trained with the gracies since the the mid to late 1980s in the garage ,then switched to the machados when they arrived so had trained for yrs before his fight debut in 94 I think approx.In 88 and 92,erik was a coach at the inosanto academy so hed hardly be trying for an olympic spot (tkd)in a sport that jkd lads laugh about.
