They're using a Psalm Tone formula of Flex - Metrum - Full Stop, with the material provided, so Flex (Dixit) - Metrum (meo) - Full Stop (meis). The way they centonize these three tones depends on the text. I don't know who the performers are so I can't express that they actually know centonization and Psalm Tones according to the Gregorian tradition, so I assume they fumbled around here and ended up with this: [Dixit] Dominus Domino [meo]: Sede a dextris [meis], [donec] ponam inimicos [tuos] scabellum pedum [tuorum] [Virgam] virtutis tuae emittet Dominus ex [Sion]: dominare in medio inimicorum [tuorum]. (etc) (If you knew this already I'm sorry!)

I have not heard this music before today thiugh I am familiar with Maestro Satie's better known works. I imagine he was a troubled man as artists often are and felt a need to express his innermost feelings in any way he could. Thank you for publishing this video and may ypu have blessings and peace always.

Thank you for your kind comment. The purpose of my channel is also to show lesser known works like this one. It's almost complet, I just need to finish year 1924...

Prière pour les voyageurs et les marins en danger de mort, à la très bonne et très auguste Vierge Marie, mère de Jésus. 19:20 this was the stand-out track on the Marilyn Mason LP it is barely recognizable here - extremely slightly dismal

Cette messe des auvres serait la seule œuvre d'Erik Satie pour l'orgue ?
@eriksatieofficiel Жыл бұрын
Pour orgue comme seul instrument oui a priori. Autrement, il y a "La Statue Retrouvée" pour orgue et trompette, courte pièce très agréable : kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnXOYneMoZuoqKs

Would love to know which choral ensemble is singing. I have always adored this work since I came across it in the 1990s.

Sadly I cannot find which choral ensemble is singing. I'm even starting to have doubt about who's playing the organ. I have had the file for many years, with Martin Rost as tag, and "Misa de los pobres", but I can't find the original recording of it anywhere.

Martin Rost doesn't distinguish between half-notes and dotted half-notes. Very careless.
