To each its own, but I fear God way too much not to trust in him ONLY! Life is always advocating for us to win, we just have to pay attention. Erika Alexander and Tichina Arnold (Pam from Martin) are the 2 that I credit for making me love and appreciate my beautiful dark skin as a young teen during the 90's when it wasn't appreciated to be dark-skinned (at least where I was at in Brooklyn, NY). They also made help me to realize that there is nothing wrong with being owning my strength, independence, intelligence and beauty as a dark skin black woman when everyone else around me was saying or demonstrating the opposite.
@Amagem814 жыл бұрын
I'm originally from Brooklyn and remember being picked on for my dark complexion. From elementary school to middle school, it didn't happen often but when it did I was so surprised that kids so young could harbor such hate for another's skin tone. Made me appreciate how I was raised.

I agree but it may be too personal/painful to share on screen, especially considering the feelings of her mom and siblings. It might cause another riff amongst them. It seems they have been through quite enough.

My thoughts exactly..

She definitely should. Tbh I was terrified by that story she told of her grandmother being twisted up barking like a dog. Then the boyfriend named Red in the red Cadillac, then coming back in a box 😳😳

Outstanding! Blown away. Culture, history, psychology, vision, culture, perspective. I loved the Maxine character, she was a black woman professional with natural hair... before her time. She reps well.

Yes these shows made black people see success is possible. I wanted to go to college because of A Different World and I wanted to have my own apartment and work because of Living Single!!

Rarely do I watch an entire episode of the Breakfast Club because I can't deal with Angela and her low-key shade, and Charlamange's consistent disrespect. And rarely can I take people in entertainment seriously because they think speaking in a serous tone and saying a bunch of big words makes them sound smart. But Ms. Erika had my full attention the entire time because LIFE raised her yet she's still standing strong and walking tall!!!

Her knowledge and intellect is so real and natural and she does come off with a superiority complex.She the type of person that you can kick it with and talk junk and be silly but at the same time become enlightened,she's a real one.

One of THE best interviews anywhere. This goes to show that you can do anything regardless of your circumstances. Her upbringing was tough and even her successful times were difficult but she is still pushing forward and being an inspiration for all of us. I admire her strength and intelligence. This was definitely a satisfying experience.
