I'm thinking one of the ways they could be keeping the cost the same yet upping the quality of the paper is by using less ink. A lot of the changes you see by taking away lines, and not using bold lettering, taking away headers, etc etc I would assume use less ink therefore saving $ in that area and they are able to then get a better quality paper and not raise the prices.....just my thoughts :) Great review!

So...I was originally getting a Neutral Vertical and Neutral Hourly. I think I'm going to add on a hardbound horizontal as a journal/memory keeper. I'm also going to be purchasing a few accessories like the sticky list pad, the clip in stickers, the mini bookmarks and I'm back and forth on the planny pouch!!!

I'm excited for the hard bound planner. I loved the original coil bound but found it was too bulky for me. I've moved to a bullet journal and love the flexibility. But I've always missed the lovely design and paper weight of my Erin Condrens. So, I'm definitely getting my hands on it for sure.

I'm so excited for the new planners! And I have to say...I TOTALLY agree with you on wishing they kept the mid-century circles. That and the Ikat were my favorite prints. The petals do remind me of just spots. Still pretty but nothing compares to the circles. I'm loving that hardbound planner that you showed that had all the circles in it. It was beautiful! I may have to order that one too! Thank you for such a detailed video!

i think this is the third year i'm watching your planner preview and i can't believe it's already here! i always spend hours perusing the erin condren website, but never actually bite the bullet and order one because i'm a working student in germany so my budget is tight and international shipping plus customs cost a pretty penny. that being said, i might actually do it this year because the hardbound planners really convinced me. not only because they're cheaper, but i get a little overwhelmed (almost overstimulated lol) with all the customization available for the coil planners. with the hardbound, i can have a beautiful planner with my name on it without getting too trigger happy and creating a heartbreakingly expensive one. wonderful video, as always!

Thank you so much for sharing Jen! I felt so happy when you commented how the petals looked like animal spots to you because I felt the same way and thought I was alone thinking it. Emily Ley uses the Mohawk paper in her planners and it is amazing paper. I personally have a love/hate relationship with Erin Condren so I debate every year repurchasing one...which I usually do but it ends up sitting on my shelf. Thus far I prefer Emily Ley's Simplified Planner and she did the hard bound planner in her weekly last year and it stayed completely flat. As for the new EC LifePlanner I'm with you and like the neutral best. Happy planning!

Thanks for all the detail! At first I didn't like the neutral from the pics I saw from those at Go Wild, but now...I kind of like it. I have a neutral vertical now & I don't really use the headers anyway. I cover them with washi, so the new design would work for me. And I like the thinner lines in the neutral particularly at the bottom. Less white out needed behind bottom washi.

I purchased the colorful vertical, 18 month coiled planner. I purchased the colorful last year and had a lot of buyers remorse and really wanted the neutral so I decided pretty early on that I wanted the neutral for my 2018 planner. But, with the changes and the lack of headers, I ended up going colorful again. I need my headers! haha.

Still not sure how I feel about the changes. Happy to hear you share some of my concerns. The sample use of the stickers was very helpful. I can totally see myself using the hardcover smaller size daily then the larger spiral for stickers and planning.

Jen, you are the reason I got into EC planners. I absolutely love yours videos. I have to admit the hard cover book does nothing for me till I watched this video. They look very nice. I just met planners last year, but found EC too expensive with all the shipping fee and custom fee I have as a Hungarian costumer. :/ I started planning with a cheaper brand, which I liked, but would like to try out EC so much! I want the large bound planner for work, the small bound for my purse and the typical coil-bound for my home planning. The only one that is offered in the neutral vertical is the one with no headers from what I've seen, unfortunately. If you still want headers, you'd have to order a colorful!

Watching this entire video really makes me want to switch from my 365 Happy Planner to Eric Condren. Last year I didn't feel a need to switch since I was really enjoying it but I love the paper change and the change of the note page on the back of the month, contrary to you. :P I would like to use that area to pre plan my month and have an overview that's easily accessible. Ahhhhh I'm so torn! Luckily my current planner takes me to the end of the year so I can see what happens with the new vertical neutral layouts. I like the neutral but I'm not willing to give up my stickers! I'm hoping to see how some people plan in it with the current sticker formats from most etsy shops and see if it's still doable. It looks to me that if you start from the bottom and work your way up, the current format stickers would fit. Interested to see if I'm right before buying a planner. PS.... I am SOOOO thankful for this preview (although I would have liked to see the hourly bc I use that one.) I am definitely going back to the colorful though. I don't like the spots in the neutral at all. I'm also NOT happy with the fonts getting thinner and thinner. But I'd never buy a hardbound because differences in sizing aside, it wouldn't be able to handle the bulk that sticker kits add 😕

hi, your regular sticker kits will work in the new neutral planner if you don't start laying your sticker in the middle box. Start from the top and work you way down and everything will fit or do the opposit start from the bottom up. hope this helps

Wow I'm not too happy with the differences between the color and neutral insides. I liked the neutral last year so there wasn't much distraction from all my stickers. But I may have to go with the colorful design this year because I'm not a fan of the no header layout. So happy you put this video up this early...no I have time to make some decisions.
