Just heard Miss Morley sing this role live in the HD telecast from the Met. Absolutely lovely, vocally and visually. A long great career ahead for her!

Gratulálok! Szép hang és gyönyörű pianok vannak benne, fényes a hang. Ez nagyon nehéz ária, az énekes benne van a dalban. Szuper! :-)

Finally. An unforced, dead center pitch dominant, non-wobbly voice. We used to have LOTS of them. This music is brutally difficult to sing. Mrs. Morley’s recent Sophie at the Met was among the best ever there. The excellent Anna Case, who sang the first Met Sophie, struggled with the part (according to most critics) and was subsequently replaced by Elisabeth Schumann who sang it with ease (you can hear for yourself-she recorded the role twenty years later!).

Absolutely right. And can go on and on for days sustained without a thousand breaths, which is exactly what one needs for Strauss. Those stretched phrases are so pleasing

Taylor Dorsey Bayes it´s really a duett: Rosenüberreichung from „Der Rosenkavalier“ by Richard Strauss.

look for "The Presentation of the Rose" from Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier. It's a duet.

One part of me hung on every word. She gave me such goosebumps that I thought I might be coming down with something nasty. Another part of me -- and I know really good singers who have been hung out to dry for this -- who convinced her to wear a dress that looks like it was tatted by someone in the late 1800s? It is SO much harder for women in opera. Tenors can come to rehearsals straight from the gym, without showering. But sopranos have to do the hair and the make-up and the ears and the dress and take a cab across town with a "dliver who no shower". Kudos to anyone who recognizes the references to a pop song and a Broadway musical in that last sentence. LOL Bottom line: that performance is awesome.

Its not an aria, but a duet with Octavian missing

It is used as an aria as well!

@@Jazzysing - how silly of Richard Strauss to write is as a duet then…. ;-) I have been in this business for almost 40 years, and I have NEVER heard it performed as an aria before. The whole point goes missing!

Loath the piano but her voice is super. The problem isn't the pianist: it's the recording and the unsuitability of a percussive instrument for some of this. Its too dominant

Le timbre est assez laid avec un grave gras.... Triste performance !
