Erin stick with the real diamond. An upgrade to me is when you increase the size of the diamond and also the grade of the diamond. You are worth the diamond!! I just had my wedding ring upgraded after 20 yrs and I wish we did it sooner because it was expensive but my husband said I was worth it!! I went from 1ct round to 3ct round center stones with the ring having diamonds on each side of the ring and we also added a ring enchanter that that had diamonds all over it. Total carat weight of everything is 7ct. Also make sure you get a ring appraisal so you know what the value of your ring is and to obtain insurance on your ring if it get lost or stolen. So happy for you both. Your daughter is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!

My original ring was a 1 carat diamond and I am wanted an upgrade for my 5 year and my husband got me 2.5 carat lab grown diamond which I put in his head because i didn’t want him to spend a lot while wanting a new beautiful ring and I love it!

Yes Erin you are right. Lab grown diamonds don't hold their value as real diamonds do. Then if you want to trade a lab grown diamond in you have to stick with another lab grown diamond you could not trade it in for a real diamond.

We want natural God given diamonds ONLY! No man made nada! If it were me, I would choose the smaller organic diamond or just keep the one you have since you are satisfied and use the money towards your new home. Upgrade your ring later if you find the desire by that time..but organic only, in my opinion. We want longevity and value overtime.
