Erlebach - Cantata 'Fürchtet euch nicht'

I first heard of this composer yesterday! I was listening to a radio station from the Netherlands (Conzertzender Oude Muziek) that played Erlebach after Erlebach and it was all beautiful.

So sad that Erlebach's music was sent to the oblivion's fire/fire's oblivion! This cantata is a complete delight as an exquisite cake is for a chubby boy!

I can't imagine what&how many treasures were lost in that fire....I gather he was a rather very prolific composer.....jn

@@TeleBachHand something like that happened with Johann Schelle works. I think J. S. Bach was very traumatized after the event of his imprisonment at the Court of Anhalt-Cothen; and self-confident of his triumph, he decided to give a mortal sword trust to the "old style" doing a Spring cleaning in the library of St. Thomas. One of his targets was Schelle: direct representative of that style Bach was not a great supporter, whose music was both a mix of the heritage of the first Baroque German style and the well received Italian new styles from that epoch. A personal style that was performed by the Choir even decades after Schelle's dead! Bach excuses himself saying that Schelle's musical scores were so worn that it was impossible to read them and that also the actual giusto was another, very different of that time... With those apologies he threw by the window almost all of Schelle's works... Literally! The extant works from this giant master is said that is less that 10th part. What remains are copies at other places.
