“Are good teams getting better a problem” So what do you expect them to do then? Get worse because their rivals don’t like it?

they do not need to get worse. Just stay stagnant for 1 or 2 seasons then you strengthen again.

The epl is a COMPETITION. When they get far and way too good it then moves from a competition to a domination, and then EPL gets so predictable and annoying for other fans of teams in the Premier League but also for fans that watch the competition for fun. Predictable and annoying becomes boring.

Part of the problem I have with City (and PSG, Newcastle going forward) is where that money is coming from. These teams are basically owned by countries and have infinite amounts of money. How do you really compete with that? I know Liverpool has, but they've basically done everything perfect and still finish second to Man City. I think more needs to be done to control spending and all that, or eventually the premier league will be a league of Man City and Newcastle.

Fernandinho is moving on as Silva might also ..... I won't bother mentioning Mendy - so the squad won't be as strong in capability or availability for each game. Liverpool have done a good job in building up their squad and the depth of quality surpasses City's this season and probably next unless there is some further transfer activity.

Spot on conclusion with nedum said at the end. It's the likes of Chelsea or United who didn't maximize their potential at the crucial moments in the league that makes it not "competitive". Other team should step up their games when a team takes a major move in transfer window like this. Don't forget, this is also a huge gamble in their part, to pay such high amount to 1 player we didn't really know the outcome of it. There's a chance He could be injured all season or end up like Hazard in Real, maybe?
@asparapee4213
@asparapee4213 2 жыл бұрын
First off, there is no gamble when it comes to City. Haaland is a rounding error with their owners. Number two, Chelsea and Man U not maximizing potential at crucial moments is asking a lot when you consider the history of the league. Even the best teams throughout history weren't perfect. Look at some of the recent point totals compared to point totals in the past. 90 points usually meant you had the league wrapped up. Now? You better get 95 to have a chance.

It's not a gamble when you are owned by an oil-rich nation like City are, they have an insane amount of money. Other teams in the league do not have the club structure or funds in place to just magically 'improve' and be at City's level, when City, again, are owned by a nation and seem to have an endless supply of oil money to pump into the club at will, hindered only (allegedly) by FFP rules. If Shaka thinks it's easy for other clubs in the league to just miraculously "improve" then perhaps he should apply that same logic to his below average analytical and punditry skills. He's good at playing the fool and clowning around making people laugh but as a serious pundit, he's hopeless.

Can't really talk about the PL becoming uncompetitive when LFC are so close and could still win the quad. Last 2 seasons where each team took turns to run away with it were freak seasons really with both clubs taking it in turns to have a nightmare at CB, having to play Fabinho/Fernandinho at CB, playing untested Garcia and Phillips etc. I'd understand if City just cherrypicked Salah and/or VVD but that's not the case Injuries permitting, next season will be close too

Haaland is one of my favorites, but I wonder how he will fit in with City. He is absolutely amazing on the counter attack with long ball service. His speed for such a big man is incredible. It was really a treat to watch him team up with someone to run with him like Jaden Sancho. How will he fit in with Pep's precision system? He does have height and is learning to use his head more, but I see his true value in that he can outrun almost any fullback or centerback. De Bruyne can certainly provide service of the long ball, but it would be a learning process to become a back to the goal striker. But, he is very young.

Yes imo. People always whinge and moan about leagues not being competitive enough anymore. Well, for that to change there has to be a better balance of where the star players go. There are already less stars to go around then in the 90s and 2000s. And when you concentrate them all in a handful of clubs you get things like Bayern winning 10 in a row, Juventus winning 9 in a row and City and PSG dominating their leagues almost every year as well. I think football could use a salary cap like in the American sports leagues. But something has to be done for sure. Because the poorer clubs aren't going to magically become rich like City, Man United, Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid or Bayern. Unless they are bought by sheiks or oligarchs themselves. Having a financial advantage is one thing and that's always been the case for top clubs, but in today's game it's really on overkill. If the world class star players would be spread out more across the teams and leagues it would make them more competitive and less predictable. Which would add excitement for the fans.
@platnumj
@platnumj 2 жыл бұрын
Hard to create that balance when “star players” have such high price tags and wage demands. Only big/financially strong clubs can afford him. Or like Barca and RM yah rack up high debt trying to sign them. So it becomes harder and near impossible for smaller clubs to challenge

@@ununseptium7961 All of those things ARE facts i.e. Man City are a relative 'minnow' who won the oil lottery. They are a club who spend more (unearned) money than anyone else courtesy of fictitious/over inflated sponsorship deals, paying their staff 'off the books', and 'circumnavigating' FFP rules. Also I don't recall any actual 'big' clubs having to advertise tickets being for sale when it comes to big games, notably CL matches. Man City are nothing more than the Lance Armstrong or Ben Johnson of the footballing world.

To steve and nedum saying city isnt going anywhere and comparing united to real is not right in my mind. And where is real madrid going(except in the final) they have great cb and another joining, mendy is very good when he isnt injured. They need a good rb and the young midfield is coming along nicely and if you think that adding to that team mbappe wont make them far more threatening and attacking then nothing would be able to fix them. Also what if guardiola goes after a year or two? Where's the "project" then?

It is actually good to have super clubs that have the resources to build super teams. Football is so competitive that there is no guarantee that a super team will win anything. It just make the games more exciting.

Haaland has the same unusual physique as Andy Carroll - Obviously a better player than Carroll but playing as a striker i see a similar career filled with injuries. His injury record for a young player is already terrible and seems to be getting worse year on year. Also, most of his goals for Dortmund came from counter attacks but city spend 90% of their time breaking down 10 men behind the ball with intricate passing

I was sleeping in Manchester, when I saw a strange figure in the corner of my room, it looked like it was a ghost. When I turned the lights on I saw it was none other than Perling Paaland. I was scared for a bit but then I said that a big match is coming soon. And then he vanished.

Where is that big gap between Real Madrid and Man City? Player for player Real Madrid can match up to any team. These people forget that Bale, Hazard, Marco Asensio, Luka Jovic, Isco and Dani Ceballos did nothing this season. That's 6 top class players out for one reason or the other all season and Real Madrid is still in the CL finals and won the league. Now is Hazard come back to even 70%, Asensio stays fit and Real Madrid add Mbappe to Benzema, Vini Jr and Rodrygo. How is it City still miles ahead.
