Ermenegildo Zegna Fall Winter 2017 fashion show

A merging of the intensely artisanal and the resolutely contemporary.
Alessandro Sartori debuts in the role of Artistic Director for Ermenegildo Zegna in a dialogue between the art of exquisite tailoring and the fast-paced needs of the contemporary urban and globe trotter.
Out of progressive contrasts - technology clashes with tradition as the outdoors spirit stems from sartorial constructions and sportswear permanently alters the look of formality - new categories arise.
The message is synchronic: ease, speed, luxury that's relevant for the moment and that's thought to be lived out there. The spirit is as multi-cultural, multi-age, multiple as contemporary masculinity is.

Ugh, Pilati was so brilliant and they didn't nurture his creativity or support him enough. The first look of this is so anti-Zegna. This is not even what the new Zegna customer is looking for. There are absolutely some beautiful pieces but as a whole, this is a bit messy. This looks like it's riding on Stefano's coattails but doing it in a way that lacks a certain chicness. It's overly sporty and the cuts are a little sloppy. Since it's a new person, I wish they even went a little more extreme with some of the looks. The silhouettes are just not as sharp as Pilati's. He bridged the flow with the razor cutting. This could easily be at Topman. Some of it looks a little cheap. Fine if it's on the high street but this is supposed to be couture for men. I wouldn't feel too confident or cool in some of this stuff. I hope to follow Pilati to his next creative outlet. These are fine clothes. Some of the looks are actually extraordinary. As a collection, this is a mess. Needs to be tucked, cinched, blown out, recut, some things weeded out. Just fine is not good enough for mindblowing men's fashion.
