I remember finding this at the Zegna store in Las Vegas back in 2018, and when I smelled it I immediately fell in love. Particularly with that rose, which never went over the top. Both it and the Oud were perfectly blended. Though, it was in a clear bottle with black and red accents, so this brown and gold bottle with the Essenze label on it, I’m hoping it’s not a reformulation because that smell was perfect. It’s also cool that this one still is very much an underground type scent, you hardly hear about it, both in video reviews, and online reviews, so I appreciate you making this.

Hi! This is a rare one that few own! So anyone who uses it will definitely stand out in a crowd! 👌While I have not seen or tried the one you mention (thus I cant comment on any reformulations) I still feel it’s a unique, warm and beautiful blend. Hard to go wrong with it and I would personally not be worried about any reformulations.

As you mentioned smelling it in 2018 i think ypu may have smelled the EdT version which came out in 2012. The version in this video came out in 2019 if i am not mistaken

Bought this fragrance today today. It was love at first smell. Have never heard about it before or seen it before. As I have never heard about it i think like you that it flies under the radar. Great review!

For a designer house this is a great rose oud scent at this price point. The oud here has just the right amount of animalic feel that is both natural smelling and wearable. Great review :)

Great review! Puchased this oud beauty a while back but still in two minds about opening it or puting it on ebay. Btw - Zegna is pronounced "Zenya" - i used to work for them albeit a long time ago ;)

I smelled it at the Zegna store in Miami. They gave me two samples of it. My gf loves it and i had to give her one of my samples. I just ordered it. Thanks for this rare unique review! Btw, this thing was still on my skin the next morning! Its super long lasting!

Agree, this is possibly one of the best Oud designer fragrances. Very high quality & in my top 1-3 of 150+ bottles. I have Indonesian Oud & Golden Myrrh (both frags A+)

I am kind of bored with the Oud and Rose Combo which all leading Niche fragrance house come out with. i get a headache out of it. Do you think this is something different than that typical Oud and Rose Combo Fragrances ?

Probably the strongest cologne in my collection that includes beasts like Kouros and Ted Lapidus Pour Homme. I do not recommend this for any other time than the coldest winter days and an extremely formal setting. One spray is enough. The smell takes some getting used to, it's definitely not for anyone trying to be liked. I feel as though I need to grow into this scent or find the right weather/mood for it. It's easy to see that it is high quality to stuff, but what to do with it: it's too strong, too serious, too severe, even, for what most people need in a fragrance. I can think of several more wearable powerhouses.

I think it slightly leans toward being a bit more for men. But it would be cool to smell this on a woman!

How would you compare it to Tom Ford's Oud Wood ?

They are quite different I would say.. Oud Wood to me is one of the "lightest" oud perfumes a man can buy. It's not strong, it's very mass appealing, etc. Zegna's oud is strong in performance, it's VERY warm and super rich. Both (to me) are very classy oud perfumes, but oud wood is the light "westernized" one and Indonesian oud is more thick, rich and warm with a sort of mysterious and elegant vibe to it. I like both but I love Zegna. It does bring something unique to my collection of oud perfumes and it seems like every guy who gets a chance to try it out ends up loving it. 😊

Hi! Maybe not SUPER BEAST MODE, but on my skin it's strong and it gets me noticed when I put it on. So strong in a good way. 👌

@@happygilmore- to MY nose it's NOT similar to oud ispahan.. That one is so clearly rose/oud dominated and it has a definite funky (yet elegant) side to it. Not sure what other oud this is similar to actually.. It's such a warm, thick and rich oud, and it's not a dirty, animalic, soapy or medicinal kind of oud that you can find in a lot of other perfumes, although at times it sort of flirts with something slightly animalic. I think it's quite unique. If you are looking for something really challenging and in your face, then this is NOT that kind of oud.. If you are looking for an exclusive oud that few people own, that is warm, rich, thick and luxurious with a bit of smoke to it and a floral touch (although that floral touch is very subdued according to me) then you might enjoy this. It's interesting that a lot of other people pick up on a heavy rose in this one, but to me it's more dominated by the oud. If you have a Zegna store nearby, check it out. If you LOVE oud and want something most other guys don't have then this might be something for you 😊

@@rottenrebels Hello, Mr. If you have smelled all of the Essenze collection is this the strongest? Or Roman Wood and Italian Bergamot give more bossy smell? Many find Indonesian Oud too strong.

I have this. Smells like oud in a solvent. No rose, nothing else. Just oud and a solvent. I need to layer this with Madras Cardomom and trying to finish it off, never again will I buy EZegna fragrances.

We all have different noses :) Sorry to hear you can't wear it :( Indonesian Oud is to me something warm and nice and not at all on the same level as a lot of other truly challenging ouds. It's one of the less challenging oud perfumes and this one is also accepted by a lot of people who usually can't stand heavier and more dirty kind of ouds. :) Maybe try layering it with something else to tone it down?
