The wheel is functional, not aesthetically pleasing, which is what matters most. The multifunction D-pads are absolute winners, and will probably end up being one of the most coveted functions of the wheel. Once Christmas is out of the way I'm ordering this. Thanks for the review. 👍🏾

I find the wheel extremely functional but rather ugly imho, same goes for the base that back then had that perfect blend of industrial vs rounded and smooth, whereas this is more toylike if you ask me. @@pexeq From looking at other reveiws they are not Dpad as tilt and rotate atleast they are Hat or even full on control sticks and there is 5 of them... Oh so good. While more flightstick like then race car as they are not dials still I've only seen Flightsticks go up to 4 hats/sticks including it's self.

The included wheel is functional and works and dare I say works well. For what you're getting in the entire package at it's price, it's still a very good wheel. The problem is the reviewers who are used to reviewing and using wheels that alone cost several hundred to thousands of dollars and they suddenly start giving their opinions on the wheel. They make it sound like the wheel is absolutely atrocious, which it's clearly not. I'm not talking about this review but overall reviews in general of this product. I still bought and people still buy it but the wheel is not as bad as reviewers are making it sound like.

Seriously thank you for putting in on a desk with the clamp. My aunt bought me the thrustmaster t248. I watched a bunch of reviews, and everyone had the pedals hard mounted. They'll flip forward as soon as you use the brake, and clutch at the same time. That wasn't mentioned in any review because everyone hard mounted the pedals lol.

As a new sim racer, im really enjoying your channel. Paired with the boost kit and lc pedals, this will be m'y first wheel in a week from now. With the prohibitive pricing of pc components, I decided to get a ps5 and a solid 80/20 rig + bucket (asr4) in hope that the ACC next gen patch will cover m'y sim needs and gt7 the more relaxed ones. 🤞 drove in a simucube 2 rig once and I really hope I wont be dissapointed.

About the Formula rim discomfort: Maybe the angle of your wheelbase is wrong. If your hands are moving back and forth (axially) while you are turning the wheel, that might be why you feel odd with it. If you've not done it yet, try adjusting it so the wheel is perfectly parallel to your chest, more or less; at least try messing with that. That might help with Formula-style rims, which seem to beg for a very firm grip. I observed your grip on the oval rim is way looser, and this seems to be caused by an angle existing between you upper body and the rim: your grip might have to be looser to account for a change in hands position required between top and bottom: your wrist has to rotate over the rim to accomodate for the change of angle of your arm in regard with the wheel. Although realistic on road cars, I don't think that's the appropriate racing position for race cars, so this type of grip would seem inapropriate with Formula rims. This could account for your discomfort.

Another great review and tutorial, thanks Ermin! I just typed a detailed account of my experience this week with a BOA, (bent on arrival), DD PRO motor spindle coupling and accident damaged USB C plug but it vanished somehow, probably after a link from an email over-wrote the page and I couldn't back track so to cut an even longer story short this time, if anyone buys one, check yours for obvious damage when you get it like a buckled wheel from significant shaft runout and if you live in England like me, you'll be paying UPS before delivery an extra £135.69 import duty from Fanatec Germany for the more expensive already, expedited GT DD PRO version in this video and £101.96 customs duty and VAT for a DD wheelbase with Boost Kit and a Universal Hub as one order. I think that's how they were charged but either way round, it's over 100 notes extra so beware! Both orders showed signs of previous inspection and/or use with the Boost Kit box being placed upside down in the top of the DD's box, punching a hole in it from the plastic main box handle and as I said, the PRO wheel looked like it was bent when rotated but it was the shaft itself as it comes out of the motor housing. It's an insanely vulnerable design that only a German engineer could rationalize due to the management goal of "Optimizing biofeedback signal processing with lightweight carbon composites" or some such and both shafts have runout beyond what I would call acceptable or expected tolerances from the manufacturing process and I can only assume that the clamped split motor coupling is removable and not a part of the actual motor spindle which is also apparently carbon or glass fibre re-enforced plastic for reduced inertia and greater feedback sensitivity. More like greater runout, flexibility and ease of distortion when you force a tapered, splined metal spike into it! Having said all that, the DD PRO wheel itself is extremely solid but lightweight feeling with a very grippy and comfortable rubberised coating and to my surprise, the silver plastic rim accent around the lower third transitions quite smoothly in the hands so don't be put off by its looks if it doesn't appeal to your taste. I think the wheel feels great and despite the smaller size than I prefer, the thickness of the grip is substantially more than the old G25 rim that I replaced for a full sized OMP deep dished rally wheel as soon as I bought it 15 odd years ago. It's still in perfect, unused condition but this 'new' one had some significant use judging by the overall dull appearance from scratching on the centre GT logo cap that should have a protective film from the factory. I'd return it if I could be bothered and I just hope it works when powered up. Don't let me dissuade you though as I'm ultra fussy and notice every detail, like how much of a blatant rip off the Boost Kit is...... I still bought one though!

I just spent my first evening with the DD Pro, CSL LC Pedals and CSL WRC rim. Such an incredible upgrade over my old T300/T3PA setup. I do still to do a lot of tweaking to the force feedback though as it is a little struggle dealing with a completely new feeling - it is still naturally intuitive however.

I just pre-ordered this. I used to have their older belt driven wheel, which I liked, but ended up selling. Now I'm finally getting another Fanatec wheel, and my first direct-drive one at that, hope it is as good as you say, though honestly the CSL Elite I had before was the best wheel I have owned up to this point anyway.

Great review, thank you! I'm looking to upgrade the modded g27 I've had for years, and this may be it! I'm on PS4. The only mistake you made was saying "there's not many games on console to play". I have 16 wheel compatible games, including sims like Project Cars, both AC games, Dirt rally 1 and 2, and gt sport which is the most simcade of those. Then there's a ton of simcades with ffb wheel compatibility. And I am missing quite a few. There's plenty to play, basically just missing out on iracing and r factor.

Ended up buying this setup about 2 months ago. it was essentially a CSL DD but this was the only one available. i have the wheel base with load cell pedals and 8NM setup on a TR8 Pro rig. it is crazy detailed and not bad at all using the Mclaren wheel. if you can't get the CSL DD honestly it's worth settling for this bc it's pretty much the same. i already want to upgrade the pedals at least but the wheelbase is insanely detailed and very comfortable to run almost anything on, weather it be iracing, ACC etc. i have no complaints

IU love this bundle it's well priced the wheel is unique 5 Control sticks is unheard of and I like the look... I am really looking forward to the release in March. I am just about to start getting into Sim, actually ordered a G29. I then saw this package while looking on the Fanatec site and looking at products in general as I know I would upgrade eventually. When I saw it and watched reviews, other racers on KZbin etc. and decided the best platform is this system. So I canceled the G29 and ordered the GT DD Pro. I had already ordered my GT Omega classic as my choice for stand because I can add the seat later. I really appreciate all these reviews that has helped me to make an informed decision.

Good shout on skipping Logitech. I've been driving a G29 for a few years now, and while it is perfectly 'adequate', that's all it is. I found it a surprisingly small upgrade over the Driving Force Pro I had been using before and in hindsight I wish I had gotten a T300. Let me know how you get on with the GT DD on that wheelstand. I have a similar stand and I've read that it's not quite sturdy enough for DD wheels.

For anyone having issues with the CSL DD (I assume this will also be the case for the CSL DD PRO) * Not being able to calibrate the H-pattern mode of the SQ 1.5 shifter: (1) Try with the short cable provided with the shifter. (2) If unsuccessful, unmount the wheel base, hold it tightly between your legs and try with short cable. ** Wheelbase or steering wheel disconnects in driver page or FFB/buttons/pedals quit working in-game: - on pc - (1) Connect the wheelbase with a wheel mounted and turn it on. (2) Open the driver page. (3) If everything seems connected, tighten the black C-clamp on the wheelbase shaft a bit (or to 15Nm torque) and see if the issue persists (4) If the issue persists or something shows to be disconnected: Loosen the black C -clamp on the wheelbase shaft till you can rotate it slightly without too much effort. (5) Rotate the clamp gently till the driver page shows everything connected (6) Tighten the black C-clamp on the wheelbase shaft a bit (or to 15Nm torque) and see if the issue persists I've had both issues, where the disconnection issues got worse and worse till the both of my wheels showed disconnected permanently. And after a month of trying drivers/firmware/usb-ports etc. these solutions solved my issues. *** On my initial fresh install of my CSL DD with Boost kit, the FFB was very weak. This was resolved quickly for me by uninstalling and re-installing the drivers again.

Good to know about the paddle shifters, I was curious about them as they look pretty cheap compared to most of their other wheels. I'm also happy to hear how functionally pleasing the wheel is. It doesn't look all that great and like you was wondering why there are so many directional buttons for, but it seems like it translates into a lot of functionality in a nicely accessible layout. Overall that's a lot more important than aesthetics. I've been cross-comparing with some other wheels. I want a basic wheel and pedal set that can functionally be upgraded in the future (hand brake, load cell brake, and potentially a clutch and shifter). There are some cool mods you can do with the Logitech stuff that make it more appealing, but ultimately you'll always be stuck with that gear-driven wheelbase which means I'd have to go to the trouble of selling it just to eventually buy a Fanatec anyway. Additionally, prices on hardware is kind of inflated right now, to the point where the Fanatec stuff is starting to look like a bargain (compare their stick shifter and hand brake to those of Thrustmaster, Fanatec is actually cheaper, same with their load cell pedal set). Even used prices on older wheels like the G29 aren't that great. I don't have a problem with paying more for the Fanatec, and this direct-drive wheelbase seems EXCELLENT. So I'm sold on this whole setup, but... I want a wheel NOW. That means my only option is the express bundle, which is an extra $150 just to get the base setup without having to wait until March. It's still probably worth it. I can buy once, get the wheel I want and get it now without having to wait, and without being tempted to buy a stop-gap wheel. I just wish the stock wasn't so far behind.

I still love love ac ffb for me its my favorite. Some may say its not the best anymore but its classic and im so in love with the feel especially when it comes to fanatec. One guy used his on acc and said he coulsnt feel any ffb and that scared me but im happy to see you feel it just fine because in getting the 8nm dd pro.

I actually prefer the detail and feel of the GT DD Pro. I've owned both, and the main advantage to the Podium F1 base was its ability to put out stronger forces (which I don't find particularly useful to getting extra pace).

Great review. I actually just got mine yesterday & I am playing ACC on PC & took your settings in advance tuning drivers, however my led & rev lights are not working in ACC but when testing them in the driver software they work fine. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks in advance

Are there any plans to make the DD Pro Rim available for the DD1. The rim is said to be much easier to use for GT3 / GT4 racing plus has all the custom features for GT7 so I think you could sell lots test to existing PS4/5 DD1 for PS users.

I don't know why people complain about the aesthetics.. the entry level CSL wheels dont exactly look like the Mercedes AMG-GT63s wheels. Infact every round wheel looks dead. It's only the D wheels and full on racing ones that look decent. Still disappointed about the buttons not being rotary dials and the rubber not being leather or alcantara

appart from being more plug n play if youre in between platforms this is the thing to get imo. I hate myself for being so in love with gtsport or gt in general i just cannot fully switch to pc without running a cable sallad around my rig. But ive heard simcube works quite well with drivehub or gimx. Youll just probably miss some of the button functionality on some rims, as ive heard. PS in particular is extremely stubborn in terms of licensing for gt so if that doesnt play a role.. u might reconsider other options. Especially if u mostly play on pc. I myself am torn right now. Stuck with a g29 and looking at shortages an inflated prices. Might wait a couple of months for now.

Hello great video thanks. About You rig setup I understand you have the next level FGT Elite ? Was it easy to attach the wheel and pedals without doing any modification to the rig, or do you have to drill extra holes or anything like that ?

Yes, this wheelbase should be compatible with every wheel in the current Fanatec ecosystem.

Im so happy you looked at the rim in use snd brought up why ita actuslly good. All people care about is how its plastic or whatever but once you get over that the wheel is comfortable ots easily accessible with inputs and its so easy to use. Its a joy and people really should get over the whole its chesp thing. I get it, its a dd wheel but at 699 for the dd wheelbase, the rim and the pedals i cant see how peolle can complain when the tgt2 is still the same price. I get it we can get other brands purely for pc but some of us want ps5 and pc. Me included! Also i like fanatecs ffb. Its my favorite delivery. Last wheel I got I listened to others about and I hated it. Wasnt my preference at all. So this time im going with what I know I like.

I went from T300 with alcantara wheel to CSL DD (8Nm) with Formula V2. Its definetly a big upgrade. I'd say its totally worth it.

I have the cls dd with boost kit and the table clamp is doing a pretty god job, but it all depends on the table. That having said, I don't like the clamp mounts the cls dd so far over the edge of the table. If the clamp ever get loose, even slightly, it will be probably the end of your cls dd.

I also have no problem with 8nm on the table clamp. I feel it could take more easily. My table top is about an inch thick with a very sturdy base. I also have the same annoyance with how far out from the desk it goes.

If you can get into a formula position with your elbows further down that yoke will feel a lot better. Meant to be pulled, not pushed

I'm looking to do a combo of GT Sport and drifting on PC. Should I buy the bundle with the PS5 wheel and add on a wheel and hub, or skip ordering the PS5 wheel and put my own bundle together (CSL DD, CSL Pedals, shifter, handbrake, hub and drift wheel). Another way of asking the question, would using the drift wheel V2 with the new Clubsport Hub V2 be decent for racing in GT sport?

The CSL DD won’t work with PlayStation as it doesn’t have the licensing chip.

Hi. Very good review. Could you please give me the name of ya wheel mount. To be honest I am switching from the Simucube2 Pro to exact this Setup. 8Nm with this GT wheel. I got allmost every pro rim out there but I ve never seen such good ergonomics and 25 button options as stock. After I testes all the premium haptics rims out there. I feel like I just want simple grippy textiles and a lot of easy to use button options!! I realy think this rim is special to its form factor, weight and ez of use. Great chanel by the way. Which button would you pick for an overtake/DRS button? The d-pads obviously offer a lot of options, but I wonder about accidentally moving one the wrong way when trying to hold it down for overtake functionality.

Most sim racers are on PC, so most of us have had to make do when Fanatec sprung the package on us. I wouldn't feel confident reviewing anything on console, as I haven't owned one since the late 90s.

@@Ermz It doesn't matter how many players are on pc. The wheel is aimed towards Gran Turismo and hence should first be reviewed on that. Plus gran turismo alone has waaay bigger player base than any other sim on PC.

I am coming from a Logitech G29. I ordered this wheel which I know is not the most expensive thing out there but it is significantly more expensive than the G29. I see you rig has some sort of side brackets. Will those be needed? I have a GT Omega cockpit and from what have read the GT DD pro should bolt right up. Are those brackets actually needed?

It's a side mounting bracket which comes with my Next Level Racing F-GT Elite. You shouldn't need it.

finally i can get ps5 offical wheel i been sick with my old g27 with chronos max pro usb mode wheel for quite some times that dont work with my ps5 and cant use t300 or g29 cos they go back to stock setting every new race and change wheel rotation all the time i hate it.

As someone who is just now deciding to make my first purchases into the world of sim racing, I honestly can't think of a reason to buy anything else. I've had a lot of people suggest to me to by things second hand but for basically only 100 dollars more I can just have this.... and not to mention if I do but this I can have a direct drive motor and a full cockpit all for under 1000 usd and that's crazy to me.
