When I'm trying to explain to people why digital instruments and autotune are the death of music. When his strings buzz or you hear his finger sliding on a string it's technically "noise" and not "notes" but it still conveys information and emotion.

@@untartelette7545 No, there are not. This is all one guitar. He's using an open tuning. Watch his right hand's fingers, you can see when he plucks the higher strings for some of the notes the vocal melodies use. This is also why he's able to barre certain chords. The technique (on this particular song) is not that hard, what's hard is working out what needs to be played, then practicing it enough to be able to play it fast enough to hit all the right notes while still maintaining the feel. That's the hard part. (Source: I used to be able to play stuff like this. Haven't had time to pick up the axe in a long time.)

@@untartelette7545 No, you are mistaken. The main riff only requires the first and second strings. (Do you know how to play the song?) All the notes he's fretting on the 3rd and 4th strings are vocal melody notes, along with open notes on the other strings. Those are your left hand notes.

I'm an absolute disaster playing the guitar but I've seen and listened to a great deal of fine guitarists. And I've got to say: I agree wholeheartedly with what you say. I just don't get my head around the fact that Ernesto can play the chorus of the song while also incorporate basslines, the guitar and some of the percussion all in one take. Apart from how breathtakingly difficult it is to play that way to sheer perfection: it is beautiful. And that commands even more respect imho.

Join in my Join in my child And listen, digging through My old numb shadow My shadow's shedding skin I've been picking Scabs again I'm down, digging through My old muscles looking for a clue I've been crawling on my belly Clearing out what could've been I've been wallowing in my own confused And insecure delusions For a piece to cross me over Or a word to guide me in I want to feel the changes coming down I want to know what I've been hiding In my shadow My shadow Change is coming through my shadow My shadow's Shedding skin I've been picking My scabs again Join in my Join in my child Shadow's Closer to meaning I've been crawling on my belly Clearing out what could've been I've been wallowing in my own chaotic Insecure delusions I wanna feel the change consume me Feel the outside turning in I wanna feel the metamorphosis and Cleansing I've endured in My shadow My shadow Change is coming Now is my time Listen to my muscle memory Contemplate what I've been clinging to Forty six and two ahead of me I choose to live and to Grow, take and give and to Move, learn and love and to Cry, kill and die and to Be paranoid and to Lie, hate and fear and to Do what it takes to move through I choose to live and to Lie, kill and give and to Die, learn and love and to Do what it takes to step through See my shadow changing Stretching up and over me Soften this old armor Hoping I can clear the way by Stepping through my shadow Coming out the other side Step into the shadow Forty six and two are just ahead of me Traducir al español

I hate this kind of elitist comment as if you are somehow above others because you can strum 3 cowboy chords.

@@TheDennzio how ironic that your comment drips with condescension and elitism. I was simply stating that with how incredibly hard playing the guitar proficiently is, the average joe doesn’t understand stand how technically brilliant this cover is. How you got elitist from that is puzzling. And I can strum at least 5 chords, so suck it.

It’s official, Ernesto must be from a musically super advanced alien race where this kind of talent is normal and he’s visiting here for 1 human lifetime of his 5000 year alien life to show us earthlings how primitive at guitar we really are. Next he’ll move on to another planet with intelligent life and show them up too and spread his talent through the universe.
