What's that ghostly apparition with a 4+2 headstock over yonder? Don't worry, it's not from the underworld--it's an Ernie Ball Silhouette Special! The Silhouette was the first guitar Music Man ever designed, and it marked the debut of many iconic design features that we still see today in Ernie Ball Music Man guitars. The Silhouette Special is a slightly stripped-down version of the original. It has a sleeker 22-fret neck and an HSS pickup configuration as opposed to the 24-fret HSH Silhouette. Not to mention, it has a whole host of features that make life easier for the discerning modern player.

surprisingly the guitar doesn't look that small on him. After all Greg is 6' 7". Great laid back playing. I love his demos. He plays song excerpts instead of nonsensical single line solo runs. He isn't afraid to just play what he is thinking.

I had mine since 2001... It was a gift and I played that guitar so much. Then other guitars came into life. It looked more like a 'toy' to me compared to my Fenders and Suhr... But I never could sell it since it was a gift. It was just sleeping in the case. I recently took it out. Man... I'm FINALLY appreciating it's perfection.... the feel and the comfortability. I am regretting removing the active noise cancellation but I'm in love with the Lindy Fralin's Vintage Hots!

Always a pleasure to watch/listen to your demos. :) I’ve got an HSS Silo Special and a hardtail Silhouette (24 frets) with a custom Tele style pickguard. Love both like nobody’s business. They’ve become my go to axes. EBMM makes great guitars. Is this a stock Silo Special with the Silent Circuit activated? If so, that number three position is the neck pickup combined with half the bridge humbucker. Tele style. Not the middle pickup on its own. It can be wired like a standard HSS but the stock wiring is different to accommodate the Silent Circuit.

I had a Silhouette (24 feet) with a Floyd, back in the ‘90s. I’d keep micro adjusting those little screws until there was nowhere else to go except to loosen the nut and start all over again. I’m too picky, so I prefer a hardtail over a Floyd. My Silo Special has their standard Trem which is really nice. Wouldn’t want to “choose” between that and my hardtail Silo, though. Both have their pluses.

They used to have Neck and Bridge in parallel in 3rd position... shouldn't have changed it... it was a tele sound

I have a sterling silhouette it's a great guitar for $ 220.00 but they just stopped making them.

I don't think they ever stopped production of the Silhouette Special, although it's currently limited to only black and white colours (I'm assuming it's not a big seller, shame because it's a great guitar).

Read your description describing the Silhouette Special as a "sleeker" version of the Original Silhouete. To that ai unequivically state BULSH_T. They are totally different guitars and in fact the Silhouette Special is larger and anything but sleeker than the Original Silhouette. I have several Silhouettes and one Silhouette Special. I used the Special to have a Music Man Silhouette with a trem. After Ernie Ball began building the Original Silhouette with a trem, my Silhouette Special went into it's case. The original Silhouette is among the finest guitars ever built.
