8 years is a very long time to be engaged for. Why hasnt he den able to marry you? Also if he doesn't rsoect you as an individual, the you will struggle later and it anead to resentment. So you need to think seriously and both of you have an open and honest discussion on your expectations towards each other. If there are too larges gaps, it won't work. Has he introduced you to his family and do they know about you, like have you talked to them. Because if not then I can tell you right now he isn't serious. Inclusion of family is a very important step. Without it is not really considered serious in our culture. Think not only with your heart but also your mind.

If you are Christian,, then you dont have to convert as you are people of the book. But conversion should not be for marriage but because you are genuinely convinced of Islam. You convert for God not for man. Secondly your boyfriend can not marry a Pakistani woman unless he wavnts to. Nobody can force him to marry two wives. It will be his choice to say *I do*. So if he is not willing to honour his commitment to you by staying monogamous and not marrying a second wife, then you know what to do. Either accept it or leave. Also under Pakistani law the Pakistani nikkah (marriage) contract has an option where the groom can give up the right to a second wife if you take that right from him and he agrees. This has to be checked off on the contract in writing and signed to be effective. If he breaches it, he an face a fine and upto1 year in prison. But it's rarely used seeing as Pakistani girls are generelle not allowed to read their marriage contract but expected to sign off waiving all their rights. But as we have no national system of registration, many men sign it and secretly marry somebody else, as there is no way to cross check. It's red flag if he is so dominated by his family's choices, when it is he who is marrying and he should make that decision himself. This is actually a problem in our culture as many guys are pressured or emotionally blackmailed into obeying the family. Many are not very independent in their minds and that obviously can create issues for the wife. But it's your choice and your life.
