I think this one's my favorite. That long string of guttural growls, and then the audio drops and, "I disassociate--GUH!!!" I love that part so much. Also, the clean vocalist? He's INCREDIBLE. He pushes it so high and so hard, right up to the edge of actual screaming. I seriously wouldn't mind if it was just him. Or maybe a lot more of him, with the screams dialed way back.

Lyrics: I've watched a lot of things crumble in my hands, falling through my fingers like grains of sand. When the hourglass tips over on its side, does it create infinite moments or leave us trapped in time? Loath, disdain, pity, regret consume me and I shut down Dissolving internally with no silver linings to any clouds I disassociate with everything I know Drowning out, losing control. My detachment permeates to everything I know Refill the sands and balance the scales, or let me go I'm becoming everything that I defied Withdrawn emotions, iv built a shell and I live inside I disassociate with everything I know Drowning out, losing control My detachment permeates to everything I know Drowning out, losing control (losing control) I'm becoming everything I defied Slowly withering, there seems to be no way out Refill the sands, balance the scales, or let me go Loath, disdain, pity, regret consume me and I shut down (I'm shutting down) dissolving withering with no silver linings to any fucking clouds I disassociate with everything I know. Drowning out, losing control My detachment permeates to everything I know. And I'm drowning out, losing control Loosing control

Wow, I haven't listed to Erra in a while. I usually really dislike metalcore like this but Erra has really developed and stepped it up! Great work!!
@hinotori30838 жыл бұрын
It's a shame because there is actually some really good metalcore bands/songs out there, but most people overlook them because of the negative connotations the genre has within the metal community.
@chesterg.7918 жыл бұрын
+Hinotori I would say its one of the most popular genres of metal though. I've seen a lot of bands I've enjoyed changed their sound to a genereic metalcore band sell more albums (Veil of Maya cough cough*). Erra has always been true to the type of music they make. They have developed and become more progressive with their music. I wouldn't say metalcore gets overlooked. I think some of the more elitist listeners like myself lol get tired of hearing the same formula in the genre. Not saying being an elitist is a good thing either.
@hinotori30838 жыл бұрын
Chester G. I see where you're coming from, but I'm referring to the portion of people within the metal community that think every metalcore band is a alternate variation of Asking Alexandria, BMTH and BvB etc. They hear the name 'metalcore' and instantly get turned off. I don't blame them, as a lot of most popular metalcore bands are pretty shit. People get turned off by the vocals as well obviously, which is disappointing as there are bands like Persefone who typically aren't metalcore, but adopt the vocal style very well. Sorry if I rambled on a bit too much there lol.
@chesterg.7918 жыл бұрын
+Hinotori.True, but I mean, Ive been letting this playlist run all morning and it went from new Erra, to Volumes, and then Periphery and they all sound VERY much alike. I think Volumes and Periphery have regressed their sound a little. The genre doesn't mix it up very much. I'm happy Erra is pushing themselves musically though.

Dude straight up I used to tour and play one offs with bands like Misery Signals and Fear Before the March of Flames, Blessthefall, and the Legendary Underoath and ERRA is FUCKING POWERFUL LIVE UP TO PAR WITH KILLSWITCH where The screamer has massive range and versatility. But this new record is absolutely fucking solid. Incredible riffs, Drums and Compression are stellar, and every song flows and makes you want to quit your call center job get in your vehicle and go do something epic. It's like they combined Misery Signals, Saosin with a smidgen of Circa Survive which I've heard the guitarist say is his favorite band so I can totally hear that influence shine through, and their on the same label. How cool is that, but these songs are FUCKING SOLID. All of them!!!!!.........................................Why are you still reading this crank the music Volume up and lose yourself. Thanks Erra
