So mind blowing to see how far the band has come. Too bad Alex and garrison aren’t in the band anymore thoooo

exactly, I still love their new work but holy cow, Alan Rigdon is hands down one of my favorite musicians because his riffs never sounded generic

i love born of osiris and i love how this band is using a lot of technicality in its riffs. i also think the clean vocals go great with the riffs, keep doing what you guys do this is fuckin awesome

The only exception of this "new kids on the block metalcore" type is Protest the Hero, who are all very talented. Prog metal has a lot of aspects (from Queensryche and Dream Theater to Zero Hour and Spastic Ink) but i am sure this band does not have the diversity and the potential to be labeled as progsters. You could hear an easy song like "Circus Maximus - Wither" to get a glimpse of what i mean.

you guys are fucking amazing! we need to play a show together in florida ASAP!

@paucceri theyre not auto-tuned.
@capturethelife13 жыл бұрын
@xTOMMYGRx chill man, i also listened to Shai Hulud, Botch, Liar, Darkest Hour, some metallic-hc & other metalcore pioneers, pls dont be such a music snob by patronizing others. i also learned some of Dream Theater, LTE, Cynic, Guthrie Govan, BTBAM songs. this is actually progressive metalcore, if you're really into guitar or drums, you should be able to spot those odd time signatures in this song, this song is dominantly written in 5/4 time signature..man, progs arent all about solos & shreds

@mushroomknot6 yeah, there are a lot of bands out there that COULD be good, if only they realized what it means to be heavy haha
@capturethelife13 жыл бұрын
@xTOMMYGRx "switching picks without any rhythm". lol are you really expert at playing guitar? what is exactly that "switching pick" thingie? never heard that term before at 3:59, they use polyrhythmic breakdowns, Erra is really prog-metalcore, but they arent using techy-riffs like Opeth or shiny-solos like Symphony-X. their musics are based on odd meter riffs, odd time signatures, polymeter drummings (see Misery Signals,Porcupine Tree, Meshuggah for example) with some trendy-core elements, yeah

Isn't this band from GA?
@MrSchecter1913 жыл бұрын
@paucceri scratch that, i heard it once.
@tcrigdon13 жыл бұрын
First of all, they used pitch correction not auto-tuned(Yes, there is a huge difference) Second, I do agree to some extent about the cleans not being too great, but that doesn't make the band shit. Obviously you pay too much attention to vocals when clearly this band is based around it's technical melodic guitar work and (for the most part) progressive song writing

Poison the Well, Earth Crisis, Converge, Cannibal, Killswitch Engage, Snapcase, Shai Hulud, Hey kids, go listen to the first albums of these bands and learn something about metalcore. This thing with college kids kids copying everything has become a huge annoyance in music history.
@MrSchecter1912 жыл бұрын
@tcrigdon same concept bro. But it's still fake.
@paucceri13 жыл бұрын
pitch correction... that's like correcting a misplayed note on guitar in the studio, or using a beat detective on drums. weak.
@squashua2913 жыл бұрын
they're good, the singing kinda kills me though

@xTOMMYGRx This is Progressive metal, not metalcore.. and its funny how you think anyone gives a damn!
@xTOMMYGRx13 жыл бұрын
@randyrockksyoursox That is prog metal? Where is the time scale, where are the solos, where are the high pitched vocals. All that i hear is a growl, a guitar player just switching picks without any rythm (maybe that you call tech prog metal ;p) and singing emotionally at times (just like the 99% of the songs you guys hear these couple of years). Let's not talk about the drummer. All in all, this type of music will be terminated in a couple of years, because there is nothing to remember

@6Un6HoLy69 жыл бұрын
It's tight but all these bands sounding the same... just no originality anymore. People shitting on the clean vocals: just remember how well As I Lay Dying did w/ terrible clean vocals. I'd much rather listen to these cleans.
