The Trans Am is a 74. You scored some really cool old Ertl castings. Thanks for sharing.

We bought several ertl diecast coin banks from an antique shop about 3 months ago, very cool pieces.

Cool old pieces. Thank you for sharing. I was totally into Ertl. They were the only company to put out a 69 Dodge Charger General Lee. Cool. Thank you for sharing.

I got that 6 car set in 1978 from my Grandpa and Grandma for Easter. Still have some of those. That Firebird is a 75 or 76. They did do a hot rodded 32 Ford later in orange, I've got that one too. Ertl also made a BMW Turbo that was the M1 prototype car. I kinda remember them doing a 82 Firebird also in black.

So happy you like the Ertl set. Quick story. I tripped on a set and had to grab it as a collector of old/weird/defunct/etc brands just like you. Not long after I tripped on another set and immediately thought of you and that I had a set to send you. However I was debating opening a set as I really was only interested in displaying 4 or 5 of the cars so I started looking for and finding some of the same cars single carded from the same series. This would allow me to pass a boxed set on to you without worry. Unfortunately some of the single carded cars such as the Trans Am were a bit different. Now a couple of months later I am secretly told about this cool old antique toy store with lots of cars. I head over (going today as well) and they have cars floor to ceiling. On walls, in bins, in cabinets. You name it they are every where. Well wedged in behind a cabinet on a wall was yet a 3rd set so I grabbed it and immediately sent to you. My dilemma was over. Enjoy!

Ertl did some interesting vehicles in the Cars of the World line - Porsche 917, BMW Turbo, Fiat Abarth 2000 Scorpione, Alfa 33 Stradale….. Some of them were also released by Lintoy.

i do enjoy looking at older castings from various manufacturers, but i wouldn`t collect any of them, the quality and detail isn`t there, but it`s interesting to see the origins of diecasts what causes pitting?

The case appears to have been stored in a damp place. I wish now I would have bought the old Ertl cars, they usually where a bit more than Hot Wheels and the wheels just turned me off.
