Nice, concise update! Interesting to see lava flowing from crater. PS - Wouldn’t mind seeing some closeups of dike area to see how they did in protecting Grindavik

Concise information. Great overviews of the Northern, Southern and Central crater, plus the lava flow and an amazing 360 panorama of the whole area. In terms of volcanoes around the world, this one could be called very small by comparison, but it is certainly one of the more YT friendly volcanoes to watch, and learn from. Great show. Thanks so much for your work with this video.

This would be even more impressive if it was in 3d.

So what is the source of that white smoke about 1/2KM north of the cone. It has been there for a long time.
@wilfredkube85707 ай бұрын
If you mean to the north-east of the cone, where the ground is level, I believe that it is the power station. It is not white smoke, but condensed water vapour.
@robertslugg83617 ай бұрын
@@wilfredkube8570 No, this is due North. Power Station is due East. At the beginning of the vid you can see power station on right side, the active cone in center, and the mystery plume as the white splotch in the center of the lava field to the left of the cone.

@@robertslugg8361 I apologize for having made a mistake in my previous comment “If you mean to the north-east of the cone”. I meant to say “If you mean to the north-WEST of the cone”. The power station and the Blue Lagoon are to the north of Grindavik. The present eruption is to the east of the power station. If I understand your comment, “Power Station is due East”, then I think that you may not understand the aerial view shown at the beginning of this video. The power station is WEST of the present eruption. The aerial view at the beginning of this video is from a point north of the eruption and is facing south. You can see the ocean in the distance to the south. If you pause the video at 1:25 you will see two white clouds of water vapour from the power station on the right-hand side of the screen, to the west of the present eruption. In the centre of the screen is a large cloud of grey-white “smoke” close to the horizon, and a small patch of white cloud to the left (to the east) of the larger grey white cloud. As the video zooms in at 1:55 you can see the present eruption with its red glow and large cloud in the centre, and the town of Grindavik (at the top right corner of the screen) to the south-west of the eruption. The small white cloud on the left of the screen is from one of the other vents which is less active just now. I would like to suggest that you view another recent video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2LaaYagl5KZhJI which shows a clearer view of these vents (also from the north, and facing south). At 1:00 - 1:20 are two less active vents, and at 1:30 the active vent is visible at the top left of the screen. A minute later in the video, at 2:30, the active cone is the dominant feature in the centre of the screen, and the town of Grindavik is visible at the horizon to the south-west of the eruption. These clouds are not the kind of smoke which is produced by a fire, but are from gases such as sulphur dioxide which are released from the volcanic magma.

Ciao, è possibile per un turista come me vedere un' eruzione vulcanica nel vostro paese se volesse?
