The 3 episode run of Perfect Game, Hero, and Midnight Sun is one of the strongest 3 episode stretches in TV history. This season also had one of the best flashbacks I have seen (Grisha’s flashback). What Isayama accomplished in this arc is incredible Keep in mind that Attack on Titan is not even my number 1 favorite anime (it’s my 5th favorite), yet here I am giving it this much well deserved praise.

Erwin's charge is definitely up there in "Top 10 Horseback charges Against Death." but is just underneath King Theoden's for sure. An army charging into battle while knowing it's going to end in their death but yelling "DEATH!" to the enemy is freaking terrifying.

I completely disagree. In Theoden's case, they are charging to FIGHT an army. Odds are against them, but they can still fight for their lives, like the AoT soldiers are used to. There is some form of consolation in fighting back and there's a chance (even if just remote) they might survive. Here, they are literally charging to DIE with no consolation possible, only the promise that charging hopefully even gives a chance (for Levi) to fight, and that those who come after will give meaning to your actions. There's no sword swing that might make you feel some satisfaction, a friend you're helping amidst the battle, only you, jumping to certain death.

This AOT scene had far depth to its writing than the LOTR scene you are referring to. In AOT you see the commander openly acknowledging that they are all about to die, you see the soldiers processing this news and their very human reactions to it, you see the fear on their faces as they charged. That is far more human displays of emotion than the LOTR charge. Not to mention the consequences in AOT were far more grave since the scouts were decimated. Plot armor always saves the good guys in LOTR.
