Eryri 25k: A Tale of Two Perspectives

Whilst Stu takes part in the Eryri 25k, Elijah finds out what Llanberis has to offer! Notes below!
Stu's Race Notes 🏃🏻
This was my first proper trail race, and what an event it was! The crowd was fantastic, the views were breathtaking, and the race taught me SO MUCH about what it takes to be a trail runner! It's a completely different world to training, and I can't wait to enact some of those lessons going into future events. The relentless changes in elevation were brutal, and the heat sapped so much strength from your body. How people managed to do the 50k-100mile distances in the conditions baffles me, and those runners have my respect! Loved it, hated it, can't wait to do it again!

An amazing sunny day in Llanberis! Had such a good time! Everything was free to visit, and there was more to do here than I could possibly do in a single day. Those who are here just to visit, or to support someone in a race will have a great time. Make sure you plan your walking routes ahead of time though, there's wasn't particularly good signal in quite a lot of areas, so it can make navigation tricky if you haven't planned ahead. The UTMB Live App was having technical issues, so there was lots of guesswork in locating Stu!
General Notes ✏️
Wales is absolutely stunning, and we'll definitely be coming back again! The Ultra-Trail Snowdonia by UTMB was a brilliant event to be a part of in both a runner's and spectator's capacity. Llanberis, especially on a warm sunny day, gets busy very quickly, so if you want to secure parking you need to be there EARLY. We arrived a little after 7:30am for a 10am race start, and got quite literally the last spot in the car park before it was closed. The route up Snowdon is quite technical, but there are plenty of places to stop on the way up and admire the views. There's even a cafe halfway up, and at the summit too!
