I'm not fussed about JUICE crashing into Ganymede. However, I'm amazed that ESA chose this style of destruction as opposed to burning it up in Jupiter's atmosphere. In decades past, there was worry about contaminating the moons with Earth microbes. Perhaps ESA are no longer worried that such things have a non-zero chance of happening. Very much looking forward to the success of this mission! Aloha!

Aloha Jim! I think if Juice had enough propellant left over they might have tried to go back to Jupiter, but it looks like they want as much data as possible from Ganymede, extra terrestrial microbes be damned I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@tomduneofficial They do, but she'll experience so many awesome discoveries in her lifetime! I was twelve when the Voyagers launched and twenty four at the Neptune flyby. I'll be retired by the time JUICE gets to Jupiter!😮
