Late comment, for which I apologise. I've just bought a bulk lot of the Kombat hexi tablets for around £2 a box 😁 Works out to around 28-30p per tab, so best value for money so far. Many thanks for reviewing solid fuel tabs..... great for those of us who still like to use a solid fuel camp stove

Very interesting comparison 👍 I’ve worked out the following (rounded figures) I hope someone finds it useful. Pence per gram of fuel ; Highlander 2.2 Coghlans. 3 Kombat. 3.4 F.Draggon. 3.4 Esbit. 7.25 Burn time in seconds per gram of fuel ; Esbit. 87 Coghlans 74 Kombat. 29 Highlander. 26 F.Draggon. 9 Positive feedback (not criticism) - Fire Draggon should be used in a dish to stop it spilling everywhere and I think rather than the residue left on the wooden surface it would be better to show the state of the pot afterwards but I like this comparison. Overall I think I’d go with the Coghlans - they’re neat, efficient and reasonable cost and Esbit prices have gone silly! All the best mate 👍

Hello from across the pond, in the U.S. we generally use a larger Esbit tablet, that comes individually packaged. The smaller ones I thought were for steam powered toys I have a steam engine that uses them, they just fit in the burner tray under the boiler. The round Coghlans tablets are fashioned after old U.S. military fuel tabs, that came in a small cardboard tube.of about 10 You used to be able to buy them in surplus stores for next to nothing. They made a small folding wing stove with a round fuel tray, you would stack two tablets on top of each other to heat a cup of coffee or what ever. I have not seen the other fuel tabs over here unfortunately. Keep up the interesting videos, and thank you.

Great info Andy. I also have one of those stoves which I bought at WalMart for about $4.00. I absolutely love it. It came with fuel tablets which work great. The little stove also works great as a pot stand for your alcohol stove and also works good burning sticks in case you run out of fuel. It's very versatile and cheap and also lightweight. A real winner in my book. Thanks for the detailed fuel info. Great job brother.

Hi fella! Good stuff as always. Could I suggest a 'round 2'? Same idea, but this time boiling water. Same stove, came cup, same water quantity, just the fuel changes. Maybe match weights so cut up the big tabs or use multiple little one. Would give a good gage on usability. Thanks again.

Really informative. Yes you have to contain that expensive BCB Gel blocks or it will escape from the stove 😀 I still like the original hexi blocks even though they can decay/crumble if left to the air for LONG periods and the fumes pong a bit and are a bit toxic. If you can find some charcoal along the way that helps to extend/increase the heat and is smokeless if dry. All the best
