This is my favorite song at the contest this year. Iceland is bringing something magical this year and I’m going to be so sad if they don’t make the final.

My favorite too! It was just beautiful! I’ve literally been playing it non-stop since Saturday evening. ❤️❤️❤️

This song is magical to me. It won’t be for everyone, but it’s the music I grew up listening to (just in Icelandic). I feel like every other song I listen to from this year will age and grow old but this song is timeless.

The name can be translated to "with the sun getting higher each day" because during winters we only get 4-5 hours of daylight but then it begins to increase until we get 24/7 hours of daylight during the summers. The sun sets for two hours at midnight until 2:00 but it is such a short time there is light even as it barely sets.

It's a classic style like Lithuania this year. Nice lyrics too. I liked how it ended away from the minor key as it is meant to be a positive song. It's got 70s folk pop vibes and is easily one of the greatest Icelandic entries ever. Another great one in Icelandic is the 87 song which I re-uploaded 13 years ago when it was no longer on KZbin.

So happy Iceland chose this gem instead of that awful rap song (which I’ve heard had a big chance of winning their preselection)

Alot of the Icelandic Eurovision entries are known by most icelanders, I do not remember the 1987 song at all, granted that was the year I was born, but I remember every other entry from before 1992 (and alot of later entries aswell) because they keep getting played. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqfFonl9l7WkrZY

i love this entry as well - love those harmonic vocals and this entry is so much different than all those radio friendly hit songs.... then the aspect the sing in icelandic how cool is this.... with the staging of Slovenija with Sebi in 2019 - seeing them surrounded by a beautiful sky ... stars... this will hopefully reach the final... especially here in the middle Europe just a few 100 kilometers from the war border... this song gives a good energy , some hope in the good and a moment of... harmony... during these hard weeks of war....

@@MyrtleP yep, correct, and their parents are musicians as well. Their dad is a member of Icelands first band that made it into top 20 in the UK (look for Mezzoforte and Garden Party). Theyr mum and her brother made one of Icelands most popular song (look for I think of Angels with KK).

It's pretty, and clean, and nice to listen to. But probably too subdued for the big ESC stage. Not sure they will qualify, despite being solid performers. The song just doesn't have anything to grab you and encourage you to vote, however the juries might give them a helping hand.

The drummer is actually their brother. Here is a translation of the lyrics to English. Undercurrents sweep the heart All but covered in deep wounds of sorrow A deep longing burns within Lies in hiding - come what may - Hush hush In the twilight you can see beautiful freedom moving closer As the night sky drowns The day torn by words No one can say - Hush hush The darkest winter, waits for the sun To ease away the longest nights - with light The darkest winter, waits for spring To warm our embraces again Darkness of winter closing in Forcing every single breath they take With growing hope for brighter days The ice and shadows will give way - Hush hush The darkest winter, waits for the sun To ease away the longest nights - with light The darkest winter, waits for spring To warm our embraces again She rises to the sky Embracing her own power And along the way Finding a sense of peace The darkest winter, waits for the sun To ease away the longest nights - with light The darkest winter, waits for spring To warm our embraces again

It's a nice song, I don't think we will win this year, but the song is pleasant. I hope they do something with the staging, I feel like they need to tell the story of the song somehow since they're singing in Icelandic and people won't understand it so I feel like it maybe needs some icelandic sunrise in the background or something else that makes it more memorable.

I mean… it’s sweet. But it’s sooo low impact. I can’t see this qualifying unless the juries for some reason love it. I don’t think this contest is the best place for this song. It’s not a bad song, but it’ll drown among punchier and flashier entries.

Such a great song. I loved how the one on the left seemed so concentrated on it, then at the end she reveals she was fascinated by the makeup lol. I much prefer this to the Portuguese song, nice melody and also character to the arrangement.

You pronounced it fine, a little bit too fast in the beginning of the word - and they never sing hækkandi, but they sing hækkar. Just after the h sound take your time with the æ and almost stop, but don't stop completely and then you have it.

When are you going to react to Greece? I guess you're reacting to live performances first, but Amanda doesn't have a live performance yet. But I saw she did a acoustic version on her channel. It's not as powerful as the video, but it's still something...
