This was my country's debut and this is the year also I started to watch Eurovision and felt love with the competition! This finished in 3rd place and after two years we won the contest. This was Brainstorms early start and now they are the most popular group in Latvia. Now they fill up big stadiums with 40k people(its a lot for our country) and they have amazing songs. If you have time really check them out. Here they are still baby's. Brainstorm in Latvia is like Rolling stones. Btw love you Jake and keep up the great work. I have requested only one time and the song was Love injected Aminata :) I would really like you to react when you have time of course to 2005 Latvia Walter & Kazha - The War Is Not Over (Latvia) they finished 5th and its one of my favorites of all time. YEEY, My country. This was the first year Latvia participated and this band was just starting out and they got their big break after this at least in Latvia. They are now the best band in Latvia with sold out concerts, all the biggest awards and many, many CD's etc. They have some really great music out, if you want to listen, songs like "Colder" and "Maybe" are really, really great! They finished in 3rd place that year of eurovison:) they are amazing!!!

Well they were pretty great and already relly good know band then and even tho I was too little to remember that years Eurovison this is still one of my all time favorite songs. :) And I would suggest listening to the Latvian versions of the songs, you may not understand much, but in my opinion they are better :)

That was Latvia debut on Eurovision, and they took the 3rd place at once :-) The atmosphere of the performance was light and positive, frontman has a nice, charming voice. All that made the entrance so cool.

What people don't understand sometimes is that Eurovision is a big stage for new artists to evolve and this was their moment. From this contest everything was going only up. Yeah this wasn't my favorite song that year and I am from Latvia but now they are working with sweden producers etc. Just be open minded people and be humble. Jake's are reacting to some legendary groups even then they were newbies. It is very interesting to see how those artists doing now. A lot of great memory's from Eurovision's early 2000's and memory's is what makes this contest great. Thank you for being so understanding Jake. Love you all.

I'm from Estonia and this song was a huge hit here in 2000. And that band is still popular here. I remember i was 9 years old and i was obsessed with it :D Singed it along and listened to it alot. But did one of the band members died in a car crash some years after?

Heini-Sten Poidjutšenko yes, nicknamed Muminsh (Mumiņš in Latvian), the base player died few years later. It was devastating for the whole band and the whole country. They even promised to never take somebody else as his replacement in the band so the base players that they have are not considered regular band members. Tho of course they are always respected and introduced, etc, just - they are never taking Mumiņš place, if I remember correctly.

I loved this. The singer is so endearing and the chorus is memorable too. It's probably my favourite Latvian entry ever except for Walters and Kazha (which I don't think you reacted to yet). It's definitely far better than their winning song from 2002. I consider that the worst Eurovision winner ever!

This is one of my all-time favorites. That cheerful dance after the first chorus is indeed everything. :') The song/sound reminds me a lot of the British band James, who were famous in the 90's. One of the best ever Latvian entries. Renars was manic and very charismatic and it was a catchy entry. You should check out Estonia 2003 ("Eighties Coming Back" - Ruffus) for another memorable Britpop sounding type song

I love music like this, very quirky, great melody, unique content, quality front man. I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it in 2000 and I still love it now. I was disappointed it didn't win The Eurovision Song Contest but in retrospect 3rd place was still a great result.

2000 is a classic year which I had the privilege to be in at, there's probably one bad song. Renārs Kaupers (the lead singer) co-hosted eurovision in 2003 with Marija N who won it for Latvia the previous year. RIP Gundars Mauševics (bassist in red t-shirt); he passed away in 2004.
