When I was a teenager I visited my grandmother in England. I made friends with a local boy. He had a game that was so different from what I had played before. It was Escape from Colditz. We had a lot of fun with it. For serval years we tried to do our own version of the game which never materlized. This was in the early 80ths. Today I'm back in to board games!

Winner of the free copy has been selected by Osprey and the winner is: youtub'er Brandon Pickett. Thank you for all the comments and input and we will work on doing more of these in the future with other titles. Please follow on twitter/facebook as these updates are posted there as well.

If I win this game I can finally stop digging tunnels in my backyard trying to escape. I'm sure it would make my mother quite happy. She's worst than the security in the game, her looks can kill especially when she catches you digging holes near our fence.

I am a fairly new strategy board gamer. I want to share with my sons, family, and friends the horrid past of WWII. Not through a book or movie but through an interactive journey to learn the legacy of these heroic soldiers. The beautifully remastered edition honors these men's lives; who would not want to share this supreme spectacle? May God bless major Pat Reid and all soldiers who served during WWII for their sacrifice.

Anybody else notice something at 5:50? Best review, others call themselves reviews when they are just rule vids. Great review.

There are going to be those who don't like 'lucky' games due to die roles, and that is fair enough, but just remember, POWs had to have luck trying to escape, it only took a misplaced step for a guard to spot them or hear them, so just like back then the luck of the dice simulates those so close escapes of many a POW camp. I played my dads original version, so when i saw this was coming back with tightened rules etc, i just had to get this version.

If it was only skill I believe that would take the fun factor out of it…Just like poker with strategy and luck

Love the enthusiasm. I just bought it and look forward to playing it as much as i enjoyed it back in the 70s as a kid. This time with my 12 year old, we just enjoyed watching the old 55 classic movie so we're primed and ready! Great video.

I was very lucky to play this game as a young boy when my twin brother received this one Christmas, and recently again, with the Osprey version, with a really good friend who can interpret logical rules like no one can, but the joy we had learning the game again, together, was immense. Happy board gaming! xx

Holy crap, you've got a great collection of games there. Had a copy of Colditz myself for years.

We were playing that in the 70s (2 hours a night after school)an actor called Peter Butterworth actually escaped from there and he was also involved in the gym horse story

I'm an old war gamer and board gamer, I played the classic years ago and loved it. When I heard Osprey was reprinting it, I knew I had to have it...Jolly good.

This game looks really different than a lot of the other games I have in my collection. Also, anything I can pass off as educational or historical is always a plus. And it sounds like something I could play with my kids.

Having played the original boardgame with my 3 brothers over 30 years ago, I miss rolling a "NEIN!" as the german player! Would luv to show this off to my many clubmates and friends, and especially for christmas when we've all "escaped" from work and free to play boardgames again ... Walts

Just won an original on Ebay, £19, haven't played it for 45 years and can't wait to play with my kids who have no idea how good this game is. Best game of the 70's, watch the series every few years and have Pat Reid's book plus others on Colditz. This is my generation.

How was the condition? I just grabbed one from eBay today for my Dad's 70th. I remember being a todler and falling asleep across my parents lap as they played this till the early morning hours. Is it true that the game is banned in Europe?

Great walk through guys. What no one can escape from is that 'Colditz' is an absolute classic! No game I have ever played before I first played it at around the age of 6 or since comes close to simulating the historical claustrophobia of escaping from a real German P.O.W camp. If you want to 'move fast' to a nostalgic time in your childhood or are looking for a 'Diversion' from the daily grind of life in the digital age this game is your Talisman! Role playing has never been so much fun.In the 'Appell' or role call of historical simulations this one Shoots to Thrill! I can't wait to play the 75 anniversary edition.

If I won this game, it would be one that I play with my 7 and 5 year old boys on cold, snowy winter days. They know a little about World War II, and I think my older boy would like the book this game is based on. Further, two of their great grandfathers served in Europe during World War II. I think that this could be a game that they look back on as a nostalgic childhood memory that helped them connect with their family's past and learn more about our nation's history.

The original was nicer with the swastikas. but I guess they considered it's politically incorrect to use swastikas in a game nowadays (even if the whole thing is about Nazis!!!!)

I had the original version when I was a kid and loved it, so I immediately went out and got a copy of this version, and still love it just as much. Why would I want another copy? I'd love to be able to donate it to a public library in the UK which has games available for people to play, just to share the love and get other people to realise how great it is (and maybe then buy their own copy!)

please someone. can you keep your equipement cards secret (faceDown) ? i mean , when you give some chocolats to a guard to get an equipment , can you choose the equipement secretly? , or does the security player always know every each piece of equipement the POWs own ?
@gogol1st5 жыл бұрын
i think i have the answer : yes the equipement cards are known BUT some (secret) opportunity cards can be some equipement ;) so there s still a fog of war

ESCAPE. E-S-C-A-P-E. "Ecscape" is not a word. How does someone get to your age and have so much to say about this game and still make a mistake like that? Don't you feel embarrassed? It literally shows you how the word is spelled on the box. Literally, children from foreign countries can say the word 'escape'.
