I know this wasn't intentional but the way Mad Rat starts breakdancing as soon as Good Time starts playing is marvelous

okay. oh boy. this track is,,, a lot Forever July was where it really clicked for me how the motifs in this album were being used... But this was the moment I began to truly appreciate the meaning behind it all. Specifically, Born to Run. Here are my main notes: - Good Time is a duet. This is the stage where Mad Rat and Heart are finally shown that their bond will be enough to withstand whatever's thrown at them. They are, now more than ever, inseparable. - ... Literally every one of the lines taken from Born to Run could be heard as Mad Rat singing to Heart. Don't @ me, you know I'm right - FIREFLIES. Augh. "It's hard to say I'd rather be awake when I'm asleep"? Heart called snapping Mad Rat out of the hallucination "waking up". Rat God offers fake, shallow distractions, meant to trick people into thinking they've affected the world as much as they could possibly want to; they can accept death, not knowing that the mark they thought they left was nothing but an encouraging lie. The only time they will be able to regret it is when they are already being eaten. But for a few fleeting hours, they can tell themselves that they are as happy as they could ever be, ready for the end. So, when Mad Rat is shown reality, of course he's upset. Of course it's terrifying, and crushing, and just so disappointing. It's real. But, now the mark he leaves will also be real; his impact on the world will not be confined to just his paw prints as he rushed through a liar's obstacle course. At the end of the day, he can say more than "I killed the human". He can say, "I will leave the people I've met on this adventure happier than I found them". It is hard to say, facing everything that stands between him and a peaceful, satisfied death, the hallucination isn't better. It is hard to claim that this is in any way easier, or that he stands to gain much by defying Rat God compared to how he might've passed if he'd just been alright with her way. This is a hard choice, and even more difficult surrounded on all sides by the nightmare... But it's one he's going to make, because the easy option isn't the right one. Not for others, and not for him. ... Fireflies, man. - FUCKING. PAYPHONE. This one I can't pretend to be all intellectual about bc it's just,,, OOF. "I know it's hard to remember the people we used to be. It's even harder to picture, that you're not here next to me." THIS KILLS THE MAN. They got off on the wrong foot, and haven't had the smoothest journey, but in the end, that's exactly why they've come this far! "I know it's too late to make it, but is it too late to try?" And it stops there. No pessimistic break-up song shit, they've been to rock bottom, and now the only way they can go is up! Edit: Holy shit. Just relistened, and right at the beginning, we start with Rat God's motif... And then, "STOP." And we're straight into Good Time. RYAN, Heart told god to shut the fuck up and I am HERE FOR IT.

While I will admit that a number of these connections were not intentional, this is honest to god beautiful.

@@ChongoShow Bruh. I've been putting dozens of hours into a Minecraft build since right after MRM dropped, and this album has been one of the main things standing between me and block-induced insanity. *Thank you,* for the masterpiece that has kept my brain busy and given me a new appreciation for music that is often regarded as nothing more than meme fuel. I know it might sound silly, but this has made a genuine, positive impact on my life. Something, something, the power of art on the internet- my point is, even if it's not all intentional, it's fantastic, and I'm glad folks can recognize all the time and work that went into a project of this scale.

I aspire to be as great of a writer, MRM gets better each listen, you really do make connections, intentionally or not, expertly put!

It's also worth noting that heart starts cheering right as Good Time starts. And since it's a full combo video, he never stops. Masterful.

I heavily enjoy this track, it perfectly represents the point of this level, it's victorious, it's climatic, it's so easy to believe it's the final boss. Slightly off topic, I really love "Crawling in my skin" as a Mad Rat motif, "These wounds, they will not heal" and "Confusing what is real" are quite accurate, heck, even the song name is accurate, I adore that connection!

My favorite track! The origin song's chiptune reminds me of the song from Tower of Babel, too, which is kinda fitting given what Mad Rat is fighting

As a writer who really started their entire journey into musical works via a lil album review on Coffe and Ramen to now being on the way to find something post graduation, it's amazing to see how much work is in this on top of the interpretations provided from both the themes in the game, as well as the listener's experiences. Just, wow it has been fanastic seeing how much passion (which was in pink for a bit hehe) is coming from this latest album!
