Some games just aren't worth playing. If you don't value the rules of a game you are free to keep the lid on the box. Be wary of people who are trying to convince you that YOU are the problem. Not only are THEY unaware of the TRUE nature of the game they THINK they are playing but they are also unaware of what is behind and beyond that game.

"The reward for being a good engineer is more work". ....a colleague told me this. I found out the truth of that quote the hard way. Not just a clever remark, but entirely true. In my last job I sure wasn't the best (entry level, so a bit much to expect experienced brilliance), but I worked hard and definitely well above my pay grade (which was bottom of the barrel). Lots of O/T work for free. At least they paid me out in a mass retrenchment. Was only too happy to take the money and leave at the end. This channel and others like it are helping me re-frame my perspective for future jobs. Thank you.

When I think about escaping wage slavery, I'm not necessarily thinking about working my life away to make more money than I actually need. What about a modest life with fulfilling work although not high-earning but without the constant chase of wealth? Seems like something not ambitious, but it's actually very ambitious as it goes against all messages and indoctrination we're bombarded with since childhood. Does ambition always needs to equal making the most money possible? Still super useful information you've provided.

I made a video a few months ago "for people who hate their jobs". Where I said something like "some people are lucky enough to find fullfiling jobs, and we hate them because we are jealous". :) But seriously, I love the idea of finding a fullfilling job that pays less, than a corporate job that pays a lot but that you hate. And because I think its actually hard to find that, then its probably more ambitious than to become "rich".
@msmith3395

I can say from my corporate experience that "finding the balance" is actually extremely difficult. You're either moving forward or sliding your way towards the next layoff list. You have no choice but to push yourself on a daily basis, staying late, working weekends even, trying to constantly multi-task, working while eating lunch at your desk, sacrificing personal health, etc. That's part of the psychological abuse of the wage slavery that you want to escape.

Ambition is working towards a worthy ideal. That is something that can only be defined by you, if you define it by money then it's about money, but clearly you don't. I agree it should be more nuanced. And asking questions like that are exactly what is going to help you get there.

At 14:32 the quote: "If you don't believe in something, you're gonna fall for everything." I think it goes something more along the lines of, "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything." (attributed to Alexander Hamilton, et al.) Cool video, but I'm more comfortable with the daily structure of working a job I don't necessarily like: when the workday's done, so is my involvement and I'm free to spend my leisure time exactly as I desire - no hustle, no passive income, no worrying whether my three dozen revenue streams or crypto investments are performing as anticipated. I work and live; simple (in this case) is the operative element, as far as I'm concerned.

@@justinedse8435 - no. It's not a "limiting belief". It's just a cold hard fact. I can quickly and easily disprove this premesis. Think about someone who is a "lock-in". That is..they sustained an injury and are not just completely immobile...but cannot speak. The kind of person who has to communicate by blinking their eyes because they cannot move their mouth. These people exist. Locked in to their body. There is no WAY that they could overcome that and build their "dream life" by "manifesting" it. That's not gonna happen. And if it doesn't apply to all...then it applies to none. Like gravity. Gravity is an actual law. It applies equally to all. The idea you can "manifest" success is not a "limiting" belief. It's a FALSE belief. And those who believe it have been...wait for it... Deceived. That's right. People can still get deceived by other people selling them silly ideas that have no basis in truth. This is one example of it.

@@courtneymeyers82 exactly. And if they couldn’t…then they would be doomed. And most have no way to move away. The whole “manifesting” and “law of attraction” and “the secret” thing is obviously not in any way real. You think that a 22 year old man living in Somalia who has access to a cell phone and KZbin could just “focus his thoughts enough” and manifest his desire to be CEO of Goldman Sacks? He could just “wish his way” into being a billionaire CEO of the largest investment bank in the world as long as he focused hard enough? No. Of course not. That’s literally impossible. There are far too many impossible hurdles in his way and his life is too short to overcome them. There are literally limitless examples I could come up with which would prove that the idea is bunk. People who believe in that stuff WANT to believe in it. It’s like people who want to believe in magic. There are documentaries here on KZbin about “The Witches of Romania” you can watch. People phone them from all over the world asking them to put curses on their men for having affairs. They wire them money to do so. Nothing these witches do has any effect on the real world. But the people calling them desperately WANT to believe that it does. “Manifesting” is no different. It’s just another form of witchcraft. It has no power but people want to believe it does.

After some thought about the term wage slavery, ive come to the conclusion that most people arent wage slaves but are enslaved by the monetary system. A worker has the choice to stay with a company if the worker/employer relationship is beneficial to both or look for another job or company. Learning a trade or skill gives the worker more control of who he works for and how much he can earn. Just my thoughts.

You're actually right... In the past i've often believed that i couldn't contribute much to this world, because i didn't believe that i was actually going to manage how to learn it. Everytime i see something that could lead me to greatness, my anxiety kicks in because i recognize how much i would have to learn and how little chance of success there is, because it wouldn't contribute much of an added value to the entirety of it. In Short: I literally just think i wouldn't make it, but instead of low self-esteem it is anxiety driven, yet logical reasoning. I only now realize how much my own perspective actually sucks, because i just lost that insight of how you can choose it yourself and hie big of an impact it makes. My life always kinda took the same turn, because of that. Anxiety is just a bitch...

Spot on. I am one of those wage slaves Mr. Scryleus is referring to. All my life I have jumped from one dead end job to another just to have my utilities and property tax paid. Food for myself and my two loving dogs take up the rest, they are my children so I work for whoever will pay me to make sure those bases are covered. The financial stress can sometimes be overwhelming but I'm trapped for if I quit my minimum wage job I don't have the college credentials or skill set to advance to something fullfilling and lucrative. This is depression at a very high level not knowing if tomorrow will be the day my phone, electricity, or heat gets turned off 😢

Does it feel passive to make that video?

Doesnt matter how much work i put in. I still get passive income over time. Most of my videos make passive income many years after. And so its passive, instead of active =Trading time for money Passive income and residual income are related concepts, but they're not exactly the same. Passive income refers to money earned with little or no effort, often requiring initial upfront work, like dividends from investments. Residual income, on the other hand, specifically involves continuous earnings from a past effort, such as royalties or ongoing payments for work done in the past. While passive income can be residual, not all residual income is necessarily passive, as some forms may require ongoing involvement or maintenance.

If you're "selling a product" here then it is just highly disingenuous, while if you trully believe all you're saying then you completely lack perspective and have forgotten that correlation doesn't imply causation (among other biases you exhibit). Yeah, just about all forms of "passive income" depend on enslavement, opression, exploiting, or deceiving someone else.

You will age You will become useless to society You will be replaced You can have all the ambition you want. You can't buy years of life. You can't buy your youth back. And when you're 50 and rich, you'll understand that you would trade it all to get your precious years back. So think good about the "ambition" and how you measure "success". I've read and seen 100 gurus like the guy in this video. All clueless.

Id rather be 50 and wealthy than 50 and homeless because i spent my youth having fun rather than being ambitious.

@@redrustyhill2 You won't be wealthy. Inflation will wipe out your gains. Immigration will reduce the average salary. You will be forced to live a live of under consumption, just to break even. Only brokers, banks and the government benefit from this system.

I ain't useless to society, f you, at 56 I'm still highly productive and extremely intelligent. My intelligence has expanded 10 fold, I'm definitely an asset. Young people use that ageism as a way of cutthroat competition. It's screams insecurity
@courtneymeyers82
@courtneymeyers82 10 ай бұрын
The thing is you shouldn't depend that heavily on the Youth Card. Society is a fool to do so. Youth is fleeting, Father Time marches on everyone's f'g face and backs eventually The fact that you go along with and support ageism is you shooting yourself in the foot repeatedly years later. It's stupid. I've been open to all ages since I was a little kid, and to me, ALL human life has value, including the elderly and disabled

@@courtneymeyers82 Say whatever you want. You can cope with it how it pleases you. What I'm telling is only what I observe. NOBODY cares about old people. I see it everyday at work, at social events. At the street. At any instance where is social interaction involved, they are worthless for society. And once again. Your particular case doesn't apply to the general society. Open your eyes. Ofc that won't help if you don't want to see reality.

I had such high hopes for this channel, but this vid reveals that your perpective, as you call it is just another worn out trope. People can't escape because they lack ambition. No. Wrong. Good-bye.

hmm, very strange that you picked that up, because I never said anything like that in the video. The only thing I mention about motivation, is that you should find what you love, because that gives you motivation. That is my life experience. Is that what you consider trope? Regardless, the whole video is mainly about leveraging perspective. If you don't believe you can accomplish something, you never will. Thats just common sense. Its not about motivation, or criticism of people without ambition. I really would like to know what part specifically of the video you interpreted as criticism of people without motivation.

Beginning at about 4:53, you claim that your perspective changed, but based on your comments, it sounds like your economic status improved and that in fact is what caused this changed perspective. Hardly surprising. "Eventually I advanced in life and my perspective changed." Of course it did! Money does that to a person. LOL. "They don't believe in passive income or becoming a digital entrepreneur..." Really, Tom? You want to sell me a belief in those things? Maybe what I desire is not about the way in which I earn money. The world is full of other values that can't be measured in currency. Hmmmm, you seem smart enough to know that. But maybe I'm wrong. Good Luck on your chosen path. I don't mind being the person you look down on. Like anyone else I can only be who I am. I would love to have a changed perspective, but only if I agree with how I achieve it. Our world is cruel and forces us to believe that money changes everything. I just want more choices in how that change comes about.

I rewatched that segment. Thank you for following up on this. I admit that segment is a bit clumsy spoken, blaming on my poor english. I was trying to explain how perspective makes a difference thats all. And my perspective changes constantly. For example this year I will start my own one man company. Im scared and dont know how its going to work. Maybe it wont. Or it will, and I will make a video explaining how i should have done this 10 years ago, that it was easier than I thought. This is what I mean with perspective. Of couse money is not the only thing, but this is a video about wage slavery and escaping it. I have made other videos explaining that escaping wage slavery wont make you happy, because life is deeper than that. I often mention the example of a person winning the lottery and the person lossing his legs, after 6 months they go back to feeling exactly how they did before the life changing event. And I also said that this channel isnt just about wage slavery. I want to explore deeper philosophical aspects of the complexity of life. Anyway, thanks for explaining. Your original comment really lingered in my head all day, had you not replied back my Weekend would have been ruined. And thats not a joke. You have no idea how hard I am on myself. Have a nice weekend
