Thank you very much for this video!!! Can you create one when you change your transmission oil please?
@eddieslittlestack79193 жыл бұрын
On Honda ATVs the engine and the transmission share the same oil. So when you change the engine oil you are also changing your transmission oil too. Also the wet clutch is lubed by the engine oil.
@EscapePowerSports2 жыл бұрын
Not a problem and as the others have mentioned the transmission and crankcase share the same oil so great news once you've changed the engine oil you have done the transmission. Will be posting the front and rear diff fluid changes for this machine soon so stay tuned for that. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave good video suggestions in the comments. Cheers

Great video. The reason Honda stamps their oil filters with "OUT SIDE TOWARDS ENGINE COVER", is back in the 80's when the 1985 Big Red came out, customers that done their own service were installing the filters in backwards and of course this starved the head and the rest of the engine of oil.

Is the 'full' line the 2nd one up from the bottom of dipstick or is it a bit over that line?

Thanks for the oil weight chart and confirmation that the level should be checked with loose cap. I only had 1 qrt of 10W-40 so added 1 qrt of 20W-50. I'll top it off with 10W-40 when I get some. I get a little cold for 20W-50 so glad to add more 10W-40.

Does the foreman have an oil screen to clean?
@EscapePowerSports2 жыл бұрын
I believe so, but if I remember correctly its somewhat buried in the case and isn't typically serviced unless the motor is being torn down as the filter is sufficient for scheduled maintenance I think. Great question and I appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave a thought provoking question in the comments.

Would it be possible to give the Honda part numbers for the filter cover/housing o-rings? Also for the o-ring on the filler plug. I've long since lost the owners manual to my '01 Foreman... but it keeps on runnin' strong.
@EscapePowerSports4 жыл бұрын
glad to hear she's still running strong. I tend to avoid putting part numbers because I'd hate for someone to assume it'll work for their machine and am not sure how they vary year over year if at all. But your local dealer should be able to pull that up in a few minutes over the phone for you. And check around online pdf owners and service manuals can be bought for cheap or even free sometimes and are a real life saver for doing maintenance on these machines ourselves. Hope this helps, thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a really good question in the comments. Cheers

Great video brotha! I just picked up an 02 450ES. Would you be able to do an oil change on an 03 Recon, is it similar, or will I need more beer? 😄 haha
@EscapePowerSports3 жыл бұрын
congrats on grabbing that Honda, those foreman's are great machines. I don't have a recon at the moment, but if I get one in I will be sure to do an oil change vid for it. More foreman vids coming soon. Not sure on the differences, but check out owners manual to see specifics for your year make and model. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question and a good video suggestion in the comments. Cheers

@EscapePowerSports2 жыл бұрын
hmmmm that's a good question I will try and find an operators manual for that machine when I get home tonight and see if I can get you an answer on that if there are any buttons I would try holding them both at same time for 10 seconds and see what that does. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Cheers

Added 2.2qt after changing mine but still had to add more after running it for a bit. Can’t find actual numbers for the machine as far as capacity goes. Great video though 👍
@EscapePowerSports4 жыл бұрын
I also had trouble finding exact capacities as and it seems to vary substantially by year and model, it does seem to be somewhere between 2 and 3 quarts on most foreman so we can always use the dipstick to get it to perfect level. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your experience in the comments. Cheers

Do you feel the crush washer collapse when retightening the drain plug? I just change the oild for the first time in my 2015 Foreman. I was going by feel and can't imagine that I was near the 18ftlbs and all of a sudden I felt a bit of give and then it was tight again. I'm hoping I was just feeling the crush washer and not stripped threads
@EscapePowerSports5 жыл бұрын
I really have never felt the crush washer and what your describing definitely sounds more along the lines of threads stripping to me. But just keep an eye on drain plug and dipstick before and after every ride. And I'd also be sure to examine the threads on the drain plug and the block on the next change. If your lucky it might have just messed up the ones on the plug and will be an easy fix with replacement. Or if your even luckier it might all be fine with no damage done and no reason for concern. Sorry if this wasn't great news, but hope it helps. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment with your experience on first oil change. First one's always the hardest, Cheers.
@gregwright65655 жыл бұрын
@@EscapePowerSports Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking if I don't see any leaks from the plug that I will just leave it and get an oil extraction pump to pull the oil from the fill hole. Do you know if the suction tube would easily reach the lowest part of the case to get most of the oil out?
