You're welcome :) Not exactly, as wire is the only thing i found to be strong enough to hold the tension of the rubber band.

I'm guessing a smaller and lighter design would spring more but probably be tougher to make. Perhaps these larger ones could be spun up a lot more and put in-between a screen and front door for good scares. Thanks for the tips.

I tried to make the butterfly and the mechanics work fine. When I wind the wire attached to the rubberband it spins. However when I put the wings on it won't fly. I did not follow your measurements for the wire length or the wings. Could that be the problem?

That could possibly be the problem, or the wings you've attached are too close to each other, or the circle you made with the wire isn't round enough. Try experimenting a bit with the wings and the wire to get it to spin. :)

So the THICKNESS of the wire matters? I have some wire the weighs less then a paper clip but it's thicker😞

The ticker the wire the stronger the structure. However, the wire shouldn't weigh too much, otherwise the butterfly doesn't fly.

@@NataliasToolbox 🦋 Ok, this is too freakin' weird! Last night I had a dream about *butterflies,* and when I went to get my grandma up and dressed, a neon green *butterfly* was at her window. A little bit later one of her friends called to ask if we wanted to go with her to the Museum of Life and Science because they have a *butterfly* house she wanted to visit, and thought we might be interested in seeing it too....and then I read your reply to a comment I posted a year ago about a *butterfly* craft project. This is more than a simple coincidence; I think the universe is trying to tell me something...🦋 Unfortunately I'm not sure what the message is yet, but it definitely involves *butterflies.* What a crazy day!

Maybe the butterflies are telling you to take better care of yourself/ some relationship or something. @@NataliasToolbox I think you may have hit the nail on the head! I'm a nurse, and for the last year and a half I've been working on a covid unit. I don't think I've ever needed to take better care of myself, more than I do right now! Maybe the universe is telling me that working on my covid unit is like me being in my cocoon, and that someday this nightmare will be over, and when that day comes I'll get to emerge as a butterfly... Maybe it's telling me that I just need to hang in there a little longer. I sure hope that's the message.🤞😉 Thanks again for sharing your craft projects with us. I've recently discovered that 'diamond painting' craft, and I've fallen in love with it! I never knew something like that could be so therapeutic, but it is.
