These are exactly the types of videos I’d like to see more of on this channel. A lot of Lovecraft “scholars” are afraid of this type of analysis.

Exactly. I see these types all the time. They are like children trying to grasp concepts beyond them. They fumble like a virgin trying to undo a bra. Zadok is one of those few characters in Lovecraft that are probably not just an unconcious self-insert of Lovecraft himself but also of the reader Lovecraft had in mind at the time(other Rhode Islanders, at best more USA readers at the time); and now Zadok's timelessness extends to even more people across the world. As for Teddy's booklet, a big part of it collected, (rediscovered) knowledge from before, repurposed under "industrial revolution" for the modern audiences. The shadow is ever present and its effects are cyclical; the knowledge and the regurgitating of it has been known since the antiquity, it's the means and the terminologies that changed. Whether people push the Shadow back once more or not, is up to us, the people.

Your best video in a while. Very relatable as a 30 year old millenial, with a job that i dislike, no community to speak of, and no loving partner to come home to. I keep thinking "where did i go wrong?", but truthfully, nothing could really have prevented any of this. I had a normal childhood, with a normal family life, and parents who love me. But the modern man is a victim of circumstances, that are really beyond his control. We didn't chose to live like this, it was forced upon us. I don't really have any advice, other than to find meaning in the struggle. The will to power.

Excellent video, thanks for echoing what MANY of us think and for braving the still very real threat of being "cancelled" The tide is turning for sure, altho finding like minded people isn't always super easy...many people who see thru the smoke and mirrors and aren't in a fog of anti depressants/mindless escapism /cage of social conformity stay away from "political solutions" and are focusing on their personal creative fulfillment (well I am at least) so yeah it's not always so easy to find like minded friends, especially in large western cities where most are all about " career". I suspect most who fell for it will continue to pretend the convid totalitarianism never happened... Well done for not swallowing the nonsense ...I didn't either and lost many UK " friends" when I politely warned against the pharma cash grab... I escaped my Innsmouth ( London) in 2019 and I'm much happier for it. I was in the republic of Georgia during " COVID" and restrictions weren't so crazy as in UK, no members of the public were playing policeman telling me to pull up my mask 😵💫 less of a repressive atmosphere, far less fear mongering...People in easten European countries grew up distrusting the government( due to the communist past) so plenty were skeptical . Armenians didn't want the " jabs", very few took them and it wasn't "mandated" to continue working like in Germany etc... So some "expats" from Tbilisi were urging us all to go to Yerevan take it as part of a " fun trip" , as the so called vax was free for all ages/ nationality who turned up ...Needless to say I passed and some fellow foreigners/ expats were surprised that I didn't want to join them😂 .. Unless you have family obligations, chidren(?) I question why you feel you are stuck in Zurich? Few people are truly stuck/powerless, ( despite what " they" want us to believe)

This video hit a little too close to home. I live in a small studio apartment in Salt Lake City, once the capitol of beautifully rugged and prosperous religious state founded by Mormon pioneers in a place shunned even by the Conquered Americans they managed to either assimilate or drive out. Compared to Switzerland, it's an infantile place but, for my ancestors, it was a Holy Land carved out of granite and desert sage. Today, it's a mini-Portland populated by rootless, shrektually-decadent metropolitans who've exacerbated the homeless crisis and invited in the secular world my forefathers walked over 1,400 miles (countless dying along the way) to escape. Downstairs, in my apartment building's trash room where we keep our dumpsters, vagrants are smoking weed, shooting up heroin, and f*cking one another as we speak. Out on the streets, Arab and African "refugees" walk about the city like they own the damn place and crime has never been higher. Given all of this, and the security field in which I work, I've grown callous and despairing at this world that I don't recognize from the warm-grained celluloid memories of yesteryear when this city was clean and vibrant. I recall a time when I got separated from my parents on our light rail (they were on the next car but the morning rush of commuters swept us apart) and random strangers stayed with me hollered for my mom and day while searching the other cars at the next stop. We were reunited and the public was kind but today, children are snatched and trafficked at a rate that's left us indifferent to their struggles--a lot pleasing German and Irish stock with blonde hair and blue eyes live here and daughters are taken at grocery stores and school yards then sold abroad--while most people cover their seats with plastic wrap to avoid contracting the fleas, ticks, and lice crawling over the upholstery from hordes of bums who roam the trains with impunity. Were I lost among strangers today, I don't know if I'd be so privileged... Having to deal with the people I must as a security man and come home to this sh|thole where once a "City on the Hill" resided breaks my heart, and it's probably one of the tamest cities in America. I recite Rudyard Kipling sometimes before I weep and sleep: *_The Stranger within my gate,_* *_He may be true or kind,_* *_But he does not talk my talk-_* *_I cannot feel his mind._* *_I see the face and the eyes and the mouth,_* _*But not the soul behind.* _ *_The men of my own stock_* *_They may do ill or well,_* *_But they tell the lies I am wonted to,_* *_They are used to the lies I tell._* *_And we do not need interpreters_* *_When we go to buy and sell._* *_The Stranger within my gates,_* *_He may be evil or good,_* *_But I cannot tell what powers control-_* *_What reasons sway his mood;_* *_Nor when the Gods of his far-off land_* *_Shall repossess his blood._* *_The men of my own stock,_* *_Bitter bad they may be,_* *_But, at least, they hear the things I hear,_* *_And see the things I see;_* *_And whatever I think of them and their likes_* *_They think of the likes of me._* *_This was my father's belief_* *_And this is also mine:_* *_Let the corn be all one sheaf-_* *_And the grapes be all one vine,_* *_Ere our children's teeth are set on edge_* *_By bitter bread and wine._*

And even from here I see the steady elimination of every Western culture on earth (egads, especially in the U.K.) via the self-immolation of unchecked mass immigration from the world's hellholes, all while people like us are forced to pay for it by wringing blood and taxes from us with these tedious, soul-crushing, bare-subsistence jobs. Soon, we the poor dishrags will have had the last of the moisture wrung from us and we will have nothing left to be stripped of to hand over to the "poor needy migrants and minorities". What happens then? Anyway, thank you sir for your insightful videos. Obed Marsh would be proud, in a way, of the world's "leaders" nowadays.

A recommendation for both you and others in the comments who enjoyed the video, read the triology Remembrance of Earth's Past by Cixin Liu. As well as being great hard sci-fi, it also has a lot of sociology that escapes the mainstream norm that we see in books and films nowadays, especially in the West. In short, effeminate men, unstable women or excessive gentility and fake morality can put all life on Earth at risk.

Cheers. What would you next like to see, in regards to a take of this caliber? There is a metaphor to be seen in the Call of Cthulhu for sure. The rise of Cthulhu bringing degenerate cults out, people being taught "new ways to shout and kill and revel and enjoy themselves". Always wanted to see Alaska. But yes, we aren't vampires. I guess you don't live in Barrow though. Is it true it stays dark there at certain times in the year?
@MrJibsIV Жыл бұрын
@@ArkhamReporter Yes, that is true. We're I live we get maybe 4 hours of sunlight during the peak of winter. All the way north there are villages where the sun will stay down for roughly 60 days until spring. During the peak of summer the sun will stay up all night long. That's where you'll hear, "the land of the midnight sun." Alaskian summers are like nothing I've ever experienced. Between May and August is when I would recommend visiting. You'll come to find most things you hear about Alaska are true. Especially the mosquitos.

I will be writting in spanish as I know that you speak the language and also will allow to express myself better. Good to see ya here again and as always greetings from México

Thanks for the comment and hope you're well! Saludos desde Innsmouth (Zurich)!!

Another HP story that stuck with me and i sometimes think about is "The Street" It's a bit overly idealizing the colonial era, but it describes perfectly well the decay of society pretty boldly and even comes off as prophetic in some of the passages, considering what's been happening the past few years. It too talks about the mutual feeling of apathy and complacency in rot. I think about how so many of the most decayed urban zones were once fanciful happy towns. Perhaps this is one story to mention in your big video, its very short but its sharp the whole way through.

A beautifully crafted and very relatable video sir. Like Zadok In a way, I feel like the US of now has became a twisted parody of the one I grew up with. The passion and love for American culture and art now feels like its being replaced a toxic and destructive hate of it. Some of what I seen disturbs and saddens me greatly. No wonder these degenerate types find fictional monsters relatable nowadays. thank you for making this video and please keep up the great content sir.

The contaminated bloodline plotline in The Shadow Over Innsmouth has for decades been described by some types as evidence of everything wrong with Lovecraft's body of work. For me, it's my favorite Lovecraft story. Despite the inability to address what is happening directly for most people within the West, everyone is being subjected to it and we're all having a reaction on some level.

"Some types" lol, that's one way to describe them. This story has such potency based on how relevant it is even today.

I live at the opposite end of you on earth and it is the same. Two rain days a year and rainbows in the distance in some oasis of sandy banks, yet it is mindless and soulless. The ideology of the folk weighs heavy on those who want better, or rather, simply want to live how we are meant to live rather than under the corruption of usury and cultural/physical mutilation. And to the point of that forever regret of leaving home (blue oyster cult's song burnin for you has more of the prominent spirit of it), there really is that homelessness of Geworfenheit WITHIN Geworfenheit as it were. The former Geworfenheit being a rather forced or engineered one.

A very good video. It made me wonder, have you read Dostoevsky? Especially Crime and Punishment and Notes from Underground? It's not completely relevant, but he dealt with a changing society of changing views, the breakup of family and community, and favouring modern destructive ideologies over what used to be good. He also provides an answer. I think you'll like him.

I've read CaP what was his answer? Take your lumps for your wrongdoing and happiness awaits? Find Christ?

@@LegendofNelda Basically, yes. In a world that favours determinism, that seeks to destroy your personality, wants to make you question your obligations to your family and fellow man, a world changing with destructive ideologies destroying age old values - in this world the answer is active love, self-sacrifice, and Christ

This was an incredibly interesting video AR. I can certainly relate with your feelings on people and society. People have become weaker and we have become as a species less connected to each other. There is certainly as Lovecraft predicted a shadow of sickess in our societies spreading. I feel like societies ussualy under go multiple stages of historical decay and the only antidote is radical change. Either way i am glad to finally have a new video from you, keep up the good work on Lovecraft and Weird Fiction
