I fitted my FT891 and Diamond SD330 screwdriver antenna on the bullbar into my vehicle last week, and my first QSO was on 15 metres with, you guessed it, OH6RM! That was over 8,000 miles from me in a shopping centre carpark in Far North Queensland. Yes, some noise from other vehicles and electrics but still workable. VK4BOB

My QTH can have the issues you describe and a common mode choke with the noise reduction features of the radio make it easy to dig signals out. I live in an urban area with all but not the plasma cutter people but industry fairly close. I will agree if you can get to a RF quiet area its easier, but judicious noise reduction can make hope operation pleasant.

I'm glad I live in a rural area, can't imagine dealing with that much QRM.

I operate mostly dx on mobile portable location. Near the waterline at the S-W coast of the Netherlands. No qrm and work easy state side and stations that running bearfoot...100W. Combination of water and no qrm give a boost to my dx!!!!! 73 de pa3geo
