Side control is a position of danger. Our opponent can move to gain even more dominant positions (like the mount and back control) and we are always a few steps away from being submitted. When we are underneath side control our main objectives are to remain safe and to look to put our opponent back in the guard position. In this video, we cover a side control escape that will detail the proper way to frame, hip escape and recover the guard.
