Chris, man, connect the dots, you just looked at the hints and immediately forget they exist and go off in some weird tangents. The floor one was the most frustrating. An advice for puzzle games: don't overthink, and don't trial and error everytime. You cease to work out the logic behind hints when you do so, and it's hard to come back from tangents. That aside, great video, nonetheless. I love these puzzle games!

This is indeed the worst case of streamer brain drain I have EVER seen. Every streamer becomes a bit of an idiot when they try to continue talking while also focusing on tasks. It's the reason why handsfree sets are just as bad as holding your phone. This happens to every streamer, and happens to every person who thinks they can multitask. Our brain has a single thread CPU, but can handle interrupt requests better or worse than the next brain.
@chrismarks9562 жыл бұрын
I know right I agree with you
@Teverell Жыл бұрын
The worst case of that was the puzzle right after the numbers on the bed when he could have had that solved in five seconds flat if he'd just looked at the bed. The numbers of segments in the digital display was almost as bad.
@swordzanderson5352 Жыл бұрын
@@Teverell Yep, it's one of the reasons why I fell out from his channel, unfortunately. Many times have I gotten frustrated with his tendency to just trial and error instead of observing first. I don't mind trial and error, mind you, but the point of puzzling is looking for hints and solving things methodically plus thinking outside of the box to get an abstract idea or even piece together obscure hints. You don't just take a glance and immediately go to trial and error, which is always a last resort for quite literally everything.

Chris, the puzzle on the scales is called kenken or kendoku. The object is to fill each line horizontal and vertical with the numbers 1 through 4. However you also have to solve the math problem inside each shape. Take the 24x L-shape in the top right of the puzzle on here. The 3 numbers that filled the L when multiplied together had to equal 24.

the mastermind puzzel was frustrating, becuase it was hard to get across that the white/black bottles didn't potray LOCATION, just that the sequence contained correct elements SOMEWHERE, and that the whole point of the game is figuring out the sequence through elimination. Row 1: all the right colors and one is in the right space. (must contain green, red, yellow, and blue, not orange pink or cyan.) Row 2: one right color in the right space. (Red is the only color from Row 1, so it must be correctly in the third space.) Row 3: two right colors and one is in the right space. (green and blue must be the correct colors, and since Red is supposed to be in spot 3, green is incorrect in spot 3, making Blue must be correct in 4. [confirmed in Row 1 with Blue in the 4th space, meaning row 1 red green and yellow were in the wrong spaces there]) Row 4: one correct color in the right space. (yellow is the only color their from row 1 so Yellow is correct in space 1.) So through elimination, Yellow-1, Green must be 2, Red-3, Blue-4.

Watching this video was really fun, because I know for a fact that I often needs hours if not days solving physical puzzles, especially the boxes (which are my favourite and it's always a lot of fun) but I manage to get thru puzzle video games like nothing (probably because in the latter everything is a lot simpler but what can I say, I may be just dumb XP) But one thing I notice is that approaching a puzzle videogame like you would approach a physical puzzle is not really the best move. This may be just my personal view, but in physical puzzles there always the chance to touch, literally, the task ahead of you, and by having a lot of notes and hints by your side it's almost always a matter of implying heavily on your logic to form solutions. In videogames is alot more about *looking* carefully at what you've given. The numbers for example: if you stopped a while and looked closely you could easily figure out that you don't need to use math, because "7 = 4" is referring to the numbers of segments the number 7 has, and by looking at other numbers you will soon find out that it nay very well be a possibility. This is not a criticism, I absolutely loved the video and I always find interest in seeing how others tackle the same puzzle in a different way. I was just putting out some thoughts about the differences between a puzzle on the screen and a puzzle between your hands

the problem with mastermind is the rules are more complicated than it seems when you know them already. to someone who doesn't play it, the pegs tend to seem to be representative of the position their in as well. I had this trouble when explaining the game to many people I wanted to play with before. once you learn that the black and white bottles (pegs) can be in any position or order, it all becomes a lot easier

@carolinajorquera17163 жыл бұрын
The black bottles indicate right color and position, the white bottles indicate right color but in wrong position. So, first row (from top to bottom) has 1 black bottle and 3 white bottles, this means that those are the four colors you have to use, the other ones are discarded immediately. Second row has 1 black bottle, the only color that appeared in the row before is red, so this means that red goes in the third position. Like this: ⚫️⚫️🔴⚫️ Third row has 1 black and 1 white bottle. The only repeated colors are green and blue. Blue gets a black bottle in the first row too, it means that it goes in fourth position. Like this: ⚫️⚫️🔴🔵 Fourth row has 1 black bottle, the only color that can be used is yellow, so it goes in first position. Like this:🟡⚫️🔴🔵 The only color left is green, that gives us this solution: 🟡🟢🔴🔵 Hope this helps

Omg I just came back to finish this and IDK how Chris didn’t get the black and white bottle puzzle. First row shows him all the colors. Second row shows him where red bottle goes, third line shows him where dark blue goes. Then the fourth line shows him where the yellow goes. So its Yellow, Green, Red, Dark Blue. Geeze Chris how come the easy puzzles stump you, but the more difficult ones you can think logically about? To break it down the first line says you have all the right colors but only one of the four, NOT WHERE THEY ARE PLACED IN THE STAND!, in the correct position. Second line says it only has 1 correct color and in the right spot, third line says two correct colors and one in the right spot last line says one correct color and in right spot.

Wooh, lots of gamers in this thread thinking they're smarter than Chris now. So I'll just say this. Video game logic is ENTIRELY different from physical puzzle building. It's hand holding, mass-catering, note-leaving, obvious answers to those looking for obvious answers logic that allows so many of us to play these games and feel smart. Problem is, seems like a lot of people have a pavlovian reaction to feeling smart where the nearest target must be super dumb. These people end up dumber than anyone because you can't learn a damn thing thinking like this. Free country, but my advice; don't be like them. Chris is a great puzzle solver. These games hardly qualify as puzzles, tbh; they're following instructions. The puzzles Chris usually solves don't come with those at all, and if you're honest with yourself, you'd have 10x the difficulty solving one of those as he does. So let's not act like the first time all us gamer/YT consumers thought we had a better idea what was going on than he did to mean that his skills as a puzzle solver are diminished in any way.

I know these escape room puzzles are framed as 'just a bit of fun', but the designers seem pretty old-fashioned: the archaeological rooms are super-Imperialist/Colonial in nature... and this one is set in an 'asylum' (which we haven't had since the 1960s) and unironically uses the word 'lunatics' (totally able-ist language from an even earlier time). I winced at that one. I know you guys in the New World don't really have the long history and none of the anxiety associated with the old Imperialist days (being that you were the victims, and not the oppressors... and prior to this, didn't even exist), but they all feel like incredibly elaborate faux pas, lol. None of it looks like it'd ever float back here in the old world, despite some of the designers being European. 🤷♀
