These Cybermen were programmed to protect and preserve as much of Lumic as possible, including his emotions. He was basically the main part of the Cyberman network, so that scream was most likely a mixture of rage at being defeated and pain from all the feedback he was getting

I kinda don't understand how this is, like, mind blowing. Yep, like, you don't look like human anymore, you definitely don't feel the world around like you used to be, there are tons of emotions that you really shouldn't feel, and after a while you definitely gonna realise that this crap is gonna be forever and ever. But is this all really head-exploding stuff? Isn't living worth living even with full of shit? Doctor believes that even Daleks are able of good things and peace, and realising that you are no longer a human in flesh is "oh, I am really sorry"?

I do sometimes wonder if their was any cyberman in that explosion that actually could process their change and function. I understand the message and the horror of losing your humanity, but I would like to see some cybermen who actually function like normal people. Like that one Dalek who's mind was freed from the indoctrination of the other Daleks.

Considering how much natural human state is related to feedback between nervous system and organs, and how much nerve cells there are in human guts alone, and ingrained to control such basic functions as breathing, feeling hungry and sleep-wake rhytm, deprived of such feedbacks brain and conscious mind can go into a shock it may never recover. Realistically, Cybus cyber-conversed person is not a human anymore, but a brain in an exoskeleton deprived of its most basic functions, and would never be like a normal person again. Especially if it has been conversed against its will.
@Madman13K
@Madman13K 2 жыл бұрын
given the sheer scale of the operation in this case and the implicit lack of any real anasthesia the trauma alone would probably be too damaging in the case of these ones. I agree with the sentiment though, and earlier cybermen, particularly the Mondasian ones, did seem to show more individuality at times. The show has moved further from this over time and turned them more and more robotic, which is a shame because it makes them much less interesting and distinct, and arguably lessens the impact of what they actually are.

I actually feel so much pity for the Cybermen in this episode because they were once normal human people who were taken and upgraded forcefully. Seeing them realise what they had become is terrifying and heart breaking. It’s also a bit callus on the Doctors part because not only was it Genocide but Murder. I loved the design for Lumic’s Cyber controller it was cool 😎 it’s just a shame we didn’t see more of it and I wish the head was black instead of silver to show the leader status. Love this episode 8/10 for me. My only real criticism with it is that the Cybermen are defeated way too easily and the ending feels a bit rushed. Everything else love it. Xx

technically, the cybermen were already dead once they became converted.. they lost what had made them... them. Although hacking the emotional inhibitor was cruel, the doctor knew it was the right way, the only way, as being brainwashed then converted against your will into cold, lifeless machines is no way to live.

Jodie Whitaker isn't my favourite doctor or era but speaking truthfuly, there are a lot of episodes in her era that are better than Rise of the Cybermen. Rise of the Cybermen was a really bad story, infact my least favourites, they butchered the cybermen and their conversion process, but the Cybermen episodes in the Jodie Whitaker era are quite good and much better than the Cybermen episodes in Matt Smith and David Tennant era.
