One of the soldiers called out for the name “Baumer” and some other name. This is a reference to Paul Baumer, a World War One German soldier, who was popularized from a move called “All Quiet on the Western Front.”

​@@NihilisticEnigma while there are many with the last name of Baumer the details match. The Baumer in 1917 called for Muller which is another character in Im Westen Nacht Neues. Not only that but earlier in the movie they were talking about cherry trees which was mentioned in the first movie adaptation of the book in 1930.

There must have been some Britons and Franks in Germany when war was declared (and Germans in those two countries), be them expats, tourists, etc. What happened to Germans in those countries (and those countries' people in Germany) when war was declared?

IMO it was really good! I respect your opinion, and anyone’s opinion for that matter. But it wasn’t that bad, it had some pretty good cinematography and storytelling in it.
