Principle: The EFI is a ducted fume hood that is designed with stainless steel internal work surfaces. It comes with a reinforced worktop and may be equipped with lead-shielding and an L-block radiation shield to protect the operator during handling and manipulation of radioactive materials, such as radioactive iodine (I-131).
During operation, room air is taken in aerodynamically from the front sash and airfoil openings and from the top bypass of the unit to avoid turbulence and eliminate backflow. The contaminated air inside the work zone exits through the baffles of the back wall and may be filtered before being exhausted with carbon and HEPA filter (depending on the client's requirements)

Exhaust HEPA filters with a typical efficiency of greater than 99.999% for particle size between 0.1 to 0.3 microns, and carbon filter to remove chemical odors before exhaust.
