Good review. You are exactly right on terrain specific I think. I was at a church camp on the coast a few years ago and I took the kids up the hill a ways to pick Blackberries and had a machete about that size. It was great using it to clear a path. Also tried it on some "coast bomboo" and it chopped those with ease.

First thing I'd do if that were mine is dull and smooth the first 1 1/2-2" of blade at the handle and Paracord wrap it. Then you'd have an easy time carving with it in balance and would be safer for the index finger💪 Great review, sir.

Nice one. It's similar to my Condor Mountain Pass machete. Cheers.

I bought one as well, and seen all the hate about the sheath and machete, but i 100% agree with you, the sheath is not bad at all and the machete is awesome, the guard does need to be bigger. good honest review!

Great video! This is a fast, nimble tool. It is definitely light weight and it cuts anything you want to cut. I have done everything with it. It is not the best for making feather sticks, but in an emergency situation it will do it. When i got the Darian I was looking also the Junglas, due to the fact that I mostly go to a jungle environment I decided for the Darien. Someday I will get the junglas I consider it a beast but if you have to use it for longer periods the Darien is lighter, faster and nimble. It will be a nice video if you do a face to face comparison. I love Esee have the PR4, 3, Izula II (2), CR 2.5, Darien and Libertariat… The JG3 seems a nice knife , not to mention the Junglas. Keep those videos coming…

Thanks Dan for the review. Esee makes some fine blades and this one looks great too. I'm not much of a fan of that sheath though'

My fathers side of the family was Scottish. I grew up hearing a lot of stories from grandparents and uncles. I like to use the internet to learn more about the Scots. The Scottish men were able to go out and stay out for as long as necessary with just what they had on them mostly because they wore the great kilt which they could use for shelter and sleeping. I love camping/hiking/bushcraft but everything is so heavy. If you were to try to extract some ideas from, lets say, how the Scottish men in the 1600's-1700's were able to travel light in a wet cold climate over rough country with light gear. I don't mean duplicate what they did I mean using modern fabrics and traditional what gear could we EDC and yet walk out the door and not come back for a month?

maybe one of the best examples is the military. many countries including ours, use the poncho and poncho liner for desert, jungle, etc. I would start here.

Do you find yourself taking it out from time to time now that you’ve had it for a little while now or is it lost among all the other options for edges tools

It became far more useful for the part time ranch work I do (clearing brush, etc.) than as a woods tool. I think it's a very good tool, but prefer a big knife in the woods.
