You should connect with a custom knife maker and design the perfect knife.

I once consulted with a knife company on a river knife. The end result was much different than what I had suggested. My take-away was that the market for "river knives" used by whitewater boaters is too small so they had to compromise on some things so they could sell it to a broader group of people.

You might as well design your own river knife " Nobody has ever done a perfect river knife" when you do , ill buy it

One think that makes this knife much better is using a paracord wrap. I've found that a well done paracord wrap provides better thermal insulation than standard bolt on handle scales. I agree that it would be better if it were fully serrated though. Its much better than my serrated mora, which chews threw ropes but only really cuts on the push and not the pull.

You can buy handle scales to add some bulk and visibility.

I imagine you could probably wrap the handle in parachute cord to make it a bright color and to add some bulk and texture for grip

Yep that could be cool

Dip the handle in plastidip.

Looks decent, but that blade shape is pretty poor. Tons of wasted cutting edge with the non-serrated section running to the rounded tip. Pretty interesting retention system. Would be interesting to see how it works with cold fingers. At $80, gets a major, meh

I appreciate your reviews and hope they influence some future gear designs. I may have said this before, but I am unlikely to buy another externally mounted knife after getting one snagged while climbing back into a raft after a particularly hairy swim (left at Bedrock).

I have carried an ESEE Izula II everyday for years. Great knife. On the river i carry a folding knife in my PFD pocket.

I have big hands and have cut my hand when my palm got wet when small handle slipped backwards.

That knife can barely cut rope. Have you tried to cut rope with it? I'm gonna stick with fully serrated blades.

agree with your thoughts plan to serrate the whole blade and wrap the handle with parachord.
