If there ever was a true, "one tool option", IMO, it would be a Junglas. Knife. Machete (though a bit heavy for such). Axe (though not as effective). Easily packable. Still easily concealed...if you're crafty. Will fit into even small backpacks. The amazing sheath is easily modified and can attach all manner of cordage and pouches with gear. I prefer a cross chest/back/Baldric carry than hanging such a heavy blade off the belt. It's at home in a Southern/equatorial beach/jungle environment. Can be abused and pressed into a Northern winter environment. Very easy to add a smaller knife to for the finer stuff. Add in a Silky BigBoy2000 saw which is the same exact length of the Junglas in its sheath when folded....that's a powerful combination to span multiple climates, environments, and seasons. Lots of firepower in a relatively small and flat package. Haven't found another setup yet that beats this minimalist approach.

Yes! It’s designed to be rigged up with a survival kit! I’m going to use some leather and make a sling for it. Thanks for the insight, those are very good points
