After using the blades a few times, it seems that the Mora bush craft came up on top. I know, we could argue that its not the most accurate or scientific test, but the mora just has a more keen edge, more comftorble handle, can handle the same size logs and has a better price. like I said in the vid, their is nothing wrong with the RB3 with its awesome handle and leather sheath all USA made. Considering weight is close, the mora is a hair lighter.

Personally, I Baton with the Junglas and finer wood work with the rb3. There’s no reason to baton a 3.5” blade larger than 2”.

The know it all in these comments was totally wrong to criticize . This video perfectly highlights the problems I’ve had with esee knives . Tough as hell made in USA , strangely beautiful . But for bushcraft they just literally don’t cut it... well at all. With your arthritis your experience highlights this perfectly . Esee has a good reputation because for people with gorilla strength hands the Esee is perfect as it won’t break . My solution is to own an Esee 5p AND a mora bushcraft black .

Because manufacturers are exploiting hype of scandi grind which is designed and works very well with the thin blades only. Thick blade with scandi grind is just a design failure from usability point. But market force...

@@konradnsa But in this case the RB3 and the Mora Bushcraft Black have almost exactly the same stock thickness of about 3.2 mm.

How biased was that? For the Esee you chose a knotted branch that will obviously give difficulty and for the feather stick you chose a lovely strip of wood to make a feather stick out of with the Mora. While cutting feather sticks with the Esee you made hard work of it. I myself have used both knives. It comes down to comfort and grip and the Esee is superior in its field.

A little ambitious on your log size. Lol. But that Mora is my all time favorite knife for camp chores. Been using mine for about 3 years now. Haven’t found anything else that feels as good in my hand.

I know! im trying to use one log that I cut up that fell in a bike path from a storm, trying not to take a lot out of the woods than I need to. and yea that mora bush craft has the nicest handle, blade geometry for a budget outdoor blade. im still trying to figure out its exact metal but it does behave like 1095, tough, takes a stupid sharp edge and sharpens nicely.

Love me my Bushcraft Black...I found it trumped the Fällkniven F1 and the Sissipuukko M07 as well. Sold them kept the Mora. Like you, weight, price, steel, design and comfort it is a very hard tool to beat in my opinion. And yeah, the UHB-20C steel is a European 1095 or O1 equivalent.

I've recently picked up a Hultafors OK4 and actually prefer it over my Mora Bushcraft Black! I did regrind the scandi edge to a mirror polish and then stopped on an ever so slight convex micro-bevel for strength. Love it. The Hultafors has much tighter sheath retention as well. And the profile on the Hultafors as a slightly more "stubby" point with a belly whereas the Mora is more pointy profile. I use the knife for hunting as well so the Hultafors profile suits me slightly better.

Better yet buy a Mora Robust for $15 or Companion HD for $19. The Bushcraft black is a good knife esp the the edge geometry its a bit different than all other Mora's. I think the BB is WAY better than the Garberg and half the price, the edge geometry on the Garberg is garbage. It took me a long time to figure out these things , bushcraft marketing brainwash had me so blinded. Really it comes down to personal preference, I just bought a Tops Brakimo and I love it. Its a totally different beast than anything you can find in that price range from other US companies. A scandiVex with a wicked blade shape and it is one tough chunk of 1095. Its the survival bushcraft knife I've been looking for since I started getting into knives, it is very cool.

yes of course, I know its not the best videos, but these are spare time hobby made, its all literally filmed on my galaxy 8a, and I'm trying out different film software, once I can get a bit, nicer camera or phone with stand and maybe a microphone, im trying to be 'natural' but I think if I write a small section of 'script' it may help, but yea if u have any advice id be happy to hear :)

Alrighty man. It’s not so much about what you’re using for filming... my first 75 or so videos were all shot on my iPhone 5. My last 30, iPhone 7. And a week ago, I just got my first tripod. My editing app is called “Splice” I made a small intro for my channel, and my outro is usually just a thanks for watching slide. For transitions, I just use a simple fade to black, or cross fade, and for each video I’m splicing together, I’ll fade in, and fade out the volume. That’s all I have to say for filming and making KZbin videos, it works for me... The only video I ever scripted was my Bark River Aurora Review... and the script was not a “what I’m gonna say” but “what important bullet points I was gonna talk about” everything else is just stuff I’ve practiced a couple times first, and then filmed. Now for technique criticism... (non of this is coming from a mean stance, just so you know, so don’t take it wrong) ;) You give up way too easily batoning... the very tips of knives can take much more abuse than you think they would. When you start off, keep the knife level while you hit the middle of the spine with the baton once the spine is level with the top of the log, then start hitting the tip, and adjusting to keep the knife level as possible. See my bark River Aurora field test video. Keep the knife out of the dirt please... you’re killing me. Just use lighter blows when you feel like the knife is going to bust through the rest of the log you’re batoning, control that blade. Your feather sticking technique isn’t seeming to be working out the best... me and my friend have been practicing a new way over on my channel, great results for the both of us. Takes a few attempts to learn though. My last few videos show good examples of that. Just some different stuff to think about brother! If you want, take some time to brows the videos I’ve made and feel free to ask any questions. God bless, and good luck!

thanks very much my dude,, itll help a lot :) I give up kind of easily, cus arthirius isn't fun, but id rather eject the blade and try again on another spot on the grian. ,,,, and good idea about tapping the mddle of the spine on the first strike to keep it even, you make good stuff u got a subscriber :) thanks again dude, if your ever in the Yukon youll love to buscraft here or mushroom pick

THERE IS NO ANY COMPARISON BETWEEN THEM. EVEN THOUGH, THE MORA IS PARTIALLY FULL TANG AND THE ESEE RB3 FULL TANG, THE MORA IS UNBEATABLE, AS IT CONCERNS, THE PRICE, THE COMFORT OF THE HANDLE, THE DURABILITY, THE SHARPNESS, THE QUALITY ETC AND IF YOU LOOSE IT OR BREAK IT, YOU WON'T CRY. ALTHOUGH, THE ESSE KNIVES ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL, I THINK THAT THEY DO NOT WORTH THE MONEY THAT THEY ASK FOR. THE EXACT ESEE KNIFE COSTS IN EUROPE 188€ AND THE MORA 40€. IT IS COPY PASTE FROM THE SCANDINAVIAN DESIGN. THE ESEE HAD TO COST, NO MORE THAN 60€. WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU COULD BUY 3 MORAS'. FOR APPRIXIMATELY, 70€ YOU CAN BUY THE BOKER PLUS VIGTIG, EXCELLENT KNIFE. FOR 183€ YOU CAN BUY ONE CONDOR BUSHLORE MICARTA AND ONE CONDOR WOODLAW, FANTASTIC KNIVES, OR TWO JOKER KNIVES FROM SPAIN, EXCELLENT KNIVES, OR A HELLE TEMAGAMI, FOR 185€, OR A ROSELLI FULL TANG FOR 200€, OR A GREEK HANDMADE OMEGA BUSHCRAFT KNIFE. I WOULD NEVER GIVE ANY MONEY FOR THIS KNIFE. THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER CHOICES IN THE MARKET. AT MY OPINION LT WRIGHT AND BATTLE HORSE KNIVES FROM USA ARE VERY GOOD KNIVES, BUT, A BIT EXPENSIVE, TOO. THE BAHCO KNIFE 2449 WILL DO THE JOB, FOR ONLY 18,50€.
