Each attack from Shades applies Minor Main for 4 seconds. That means add Shade's Duration (17.3s rank 1 unmorphed) with that 4 seconds and you get 21+ seconds, as opposed to Heroic Slash's 12.

Great guides and i'd say only reliable ones i've seen so far, keep up the good work! Summon shade is not just 4 seconds, its hits are applying 4 second debuff and it constantly hits for 13~ish seconds if i remember correctly, so it is actually long enough and on crowd mobs, if you morph it to be come 2 shadows it can actually help controlling crowded mobs a little. This is by far my favourite build of yours. I think I remember you doing a similar build a little while back and I used and loved that one too, it brings so much more to the nightblade class PVE wise (not sure if this would work PVP) and I made a whole new argonian character just to use it (tried it on my khajit first but I didn't like not having any racial passive to help me, min max ftw lol) I'd love to see this build be more viable for trials in the future, until then I'll stick to my block knight lol. I have to say this is probably my favorite build for 2016 and I might consider this for my next character. One of my friends has a NB Tank as well, but his is rather confusing. Deltia definitely explains it into detail and the gear is rather easy to obtain. Similar to my build, one bar has a purpose and the other are buffs. Furthermore, I see Soul Harvest is a bit of fast collection for the Warhorn Ultimate which is an awesome concept. I also have this for my build and it's essentially an ultimate generating build to keep up Warhorn. Would love to see this build with more of an end game gear concept to sustain the harder material.

K, let's break down a few things as to why "certain" things improve the argonian nb tank. I should know, since it's my main tank. Alchemy enchant on the jewelry for this build is a must. It reduces the cd, and allows you to regen faster. As you mentioned the passive catalyst is important, so reducing the potion timer is number 1 priority. Second reason for any tank to run large amount of health is based on two abilities, bone sheild, or blazing sheild if you're a templar. Each of these abilities reduce the damage amount by 30% of "your" max health. So the higher the health, the more it mitigates. Ultimate selection is very diverse for the nb tank. Basically, there's no wrong way to go, but bolstering darkness adds another mitigating affect for you and your party. I agree with your selection of champion points to acquire the passives. This is a no brainer when it comes to this build. But keep in mind the nb tank is very versatile, so there are many different ways to acquire the passives and advoid DRs. Overall, pretty good. Keep in mind though Deltia, each variation of any tank build will reflect the charcter sheet, so it's important to remember what the tanks do for the healers. A lower life tank with little mitigation can burn through a healer's resources, but if a lower life tank has multiple mitigating effects it can save the healer's resources. High health tanks who use the mitigating effects less frequently, but consistently, will use less of the healer's resources, but will need to know how to manage their resources effectively.

Hey Deltia, have you ever considered using the Soul Siphon morph and a resto staff for a NB healer. The HoT and ultimate gain makes for an extremely potent healer.

I'm a bit confused on how to build a sap tank. I started playing 2 days ago and I see alot of specs online for "sap tanks" just stacking stamina - I'm aware of that it increases your weapon damage and also lets you block more and what not but if I'm building a tank around siphoning which heals more based of how much damage the spells do, why wouldn't I spec more into magicka? Played a shadowknight in EverQuest2 for 7 years and trying to replicate that. Not your standard mitigation tank but decent spell damage with huge self healing from lifesteal. In ESO i get a feeling that I'm gimping myself trying to build this type of tank as my weapon damage don't benifit from the same stats as my spells do.

Cool tips on tanking, but the way I see it, speccing into stam for tanking is almost always going to be more advantageous, cause then you have a huge stamina pool for your taunt and heroic slash. Then again, I've only ever played a stam DK tank so I shouldn't be talking about magic tanks lol. That said, this is an interesting build that's unique imo. Also, Magplar update has another vote right here

The shades are better for Minor Main buff, everytime they attack the apply it for 4 second, and you can grab the morph that summons 2 and you have a buff that lasts longer than herioc slash

i have been using this build for about 4 months now(tis and the previous versions) and i have realy been enjoing it my only problem with it is that im on the ps4 and it get realy hard to see what buffs you have active during hectic fights and pvp skirmishes(in IC for example since i like farming tel var) this is my only toon that i regularly use and i realy love it thanks deltia!

The minor maim from talons and heroic slash does NOT work on bosses on xbox one i.e. "target immune to effect". Does it work on PC? I hear Deltia quite often say to keep the minor maim on bosses while tanking, but it doesn't work on console.

Their passives, and for that matter active class abilities are extremely tank-friendly. Lots of CC, extra block, extra healing received, extra health recovery, extra resistances, resource re-imbursement. Draconic power and Earthen skill lines are both very tank heavy.

In fact the only real reason is fiery grip, a skill that pulls a mob to you. The hard CC from talons is nice as well, but Sorc and Warden have equivalent skills. In terms of mitigation, Nightblades are actually the best. Every class has access to minor and major resistances, NBs have 15% evasion on top AND the veil ultimate which gives another 30% mitigation, or 60%, if you choose that morph. Seriously, if you know every single skill of all classes by heart, you will realize every class is equally valid as tank with some specific nuances (DK = lazy pull, NB = insane mitigation and heal, etc pp). Another reason why DKs are supposedly OP is their passive which restores resources on using an ultimate. But all other classes have a skill that replenishes resources independently from regeneration, namely: dark pact (mage), bullnetch (warden), leeching strikes (nightblade), repentance (templar). It all boils down to playstyle, and yes, DK might be the easiest one to pull of, but it's not the most effective class (again, they are about equal if used correctly)

I I I O B L I V I O N I I I I I I Yes. While there are exceptions, for your average, Magicka damage dealer, you're going to use a staff. My advice: Just make sure you pick a good RACE with a good CLASS. Everything else like skills and weapons can be changed later. So on one hand, your first time around should be more about fun and experiencing what you want. However, you don't want to spend so much time on a character and have them be useless. Keep in mind that any class can be a Magicka or Stamina damage dealer, a Tank, or a Healer. For Stamina, consider a Redguard, Wood Elf, or Khajit. For Magicka, consider a High Elf, Breton, or Dark Elf (with fire.) For Healer, consider an Argonian, Breton, or High Elf. For Tanking, consider a Nord, Orc, or Imperial. Magic-based tanks typically are healer races. Your first time through, I personally had an easier time with magicka users, than stamina ones. Also, some classes are easier with magicka while some with stamina. On average, your easy classes will be Magicka Templar, Magicka Sorcerer, Stamina Dragonknight, Stamina Nightblade. Your harder classes will be Stamina Templar, Stamina Sorcerer, Magicka Dragonknight, Magicka Nightblade. So that brings us to a Templar vs a Sorcerer. A Sorcerers can do higher numbers in group dungeons, but are harder to run solo. They are squishy without their conjured Daedra pets, which take up bar space. Their self-healing is and resistance isn't that great either. Templars have one of the best heals and spammable attacks in the game. They might not have as high burst damage, but they have endurance and easily manage resources. Lastly, there's race. Dark Elves don't get a huge Magicka bonus, like Breton's or High Elves, and only get a big increase to flame damage. So that leaves Breton vs High Elf. Again, as a Templar starting out, it's better to go for sustainably. Breton's get a reduced Magic cost and spell resistance, while High Elves get increased elemental damage and magicka regeneration. When it comes to spamming, reduced cost trumps regen. Short answer: Your safest bet for your first character would be a Breton Templar. It will make a good solo quester, group damage dealer, and healer in any situation. :)
