I’m coming back soon! Thank you so much for the kind words; it is thanks to people like you who have motivated me to start my own company. As of a few weeks ago, I am a full time contract engineer/social media educator. I have done and still do design work for companies like Volvo, Yamaha, Walmart and Canon. Volvo contracted me to design automatic driving toy trucks for a trade show! KZbin does not pay my bills….yet, but I will keep doing contract engineering jobs until my KZbin channel can grow large enough to support me fully. I will be adding incentives to my Patreon to hopefully convince people to support me through that source of income. I was thinking of adding a collection of my projects there available for download if you pay at least $1/month or something like that. I’m open to suggestions if you have any. Thanks again!

Thank you very much for the demo. This provides a great start for those of us who want to utilize the ESP32 and it's wifi capabilities. I would comment that there are several SSD1306 libraries out there and you did mention that one could modify the serial version of the code for any specific display libraries that the user is familiar with. However, it would be useful to identify the one that was used with your OLED sketch. Which is the "ThingPulse OLED SSD1306 (ESP8266/ESP32/Mbed-OS)". The reason this is not quite obvious is that the latest version of the library uses #include "SSD1306Wire.h", instead of the legacy "SSD1306.h" that is in the demo sketch.

It really depends on what board you buy. Any ESP32 you purchase that has a display usually has documentation on github with example sketches and required libraries. I have even purchased several of the "same" boards before that have needed different libraries because the manufacturer decided to use a slightly different display.

Idea for a future video. A long list of data sources and or APIs for everything from weather to crypto to metals/stock markets and WHO/CDC/FEMA data (I dunno, medical emergency beheading count for example - it's a real thing btw). If you did a video / downloadable spreadsheet introducing various data sources / APIs and how to interact with them that would be fantastic.

Right on! Is there any kind of data that can you tell you recent infected areas? Would be great if you could utilize GPS functionalities that can help you avoid "hot areas".

This seems like a good way of making yourself constantly stressed for no reason.

Too many people thinks that way. You can pull any other data, eg. weather, wind, time, birth rate etc...

Old comment, I know... But yeah, one can always stick one’s head in the sand, and avoid being informed. Others prefer to be informed. From knowledge comes power. As the other commenter stated, you can be informed on weather, wind, time, birth rate... So does that mean that then one should stress out that it’s too rainy or sunny, or that the wind will blow the roof off, or that it’s too late, or the world is getting too crowded or too few people??? You can use knowledge in a positive or negative way, and you can react in a positively negative manner.

@@ernestgalvan9037 With weather data you can do something and the resolution is good enough that it might be actually able to make good predictions. Oh, it's going to rain. I'll take a coat with me. With COVID-19 what are you going to do? Is the data updated in high enough frequency that you can actually avoid a hot spot? Probably not. What are you going to do with birth rate data? See the population is getting too high and then start screaming at people to get sterilized? If you want to feed yourself worthless miserable data all day be my guest but don't make out that gives you some sort of super power.

Another Pointless device to help bolster the BS narrative about this "Emergency". Keep up the great work!

It's not really pointless, but thanks for your input. If you took the time to watch the video, there is a lot of useful information about how GIS servers and JSON Rest APIs work and how to parse the data into individual variables for use with other projects.

What does BS mean ? Sorry if it's obvious but English is not my mother tongue
@ZainAhmed4 жыл бұрын
No need to be an asshole about it, it's a good project and pulling data from a server and parsing JSON are very valuable skills to have.
