I wish I lived close to your store. I would spend all my spare cash on your beautiful yarns and join any workshops that you run in the store. I do attend a knit and natter group in a local yarn store in South Wales but it tends to stock lower end budget yarns. Your podcasts are so inspiring and you’re so generous with your patterns too. I love Melissa’s new sweater. It’s stunning. Thank you again for a lively, informative podcast. I may add that you do not come across as remotely nervous. X Angela. P.S some older knitters have suggested that knitting on steel needles make arthritic hands ache more.
@EspaceTricotPodcast5 жыл бұрын
Hi Angela, thanks so much for your lovely words and your encouragement:-) Indeed many people who suffer from hand problems prefer wood needles, but I am such a tight knitter that wood needles end up giving me cramps! 😉😂

So funny that Jan and Wille stayed up knitting with you in the lobby (as per your usual festival after-hours ritual, with some Prosecco, perhaps...?). They were the FIRST knitters I ran into on my way to the subway storm, and they were EARLY, so we all grabbed breakfast before meeting Kristy at Sephora. ❤️Another delightful episode with you lovely ladies. Melissa, I love the new design you modeled today. I was wondering if I could use Myak or Clinton Hill Cashmere for the beige part of your design and pair it with another less expensive yarn for the body. It seems like having that super soft luxurious yarn in the next/chest area would be heavenly. Those two yarns are out of my reach for a sweater quantity of yarn. It occurred to me that maybe I could indulge in a skein or two for your two color design. (Do you think that would be enough?) Do you have any suggestions of a yarn to pair it with that would complement with a similar soft look but not as luxurious of a yarn? (p.s. Not a fan of mohair or Alpaca.)
@EspaceTricotPodcast5 жыл бұрын
If you check out the gauge on the pattern you can definitely use complimentary yarns as long as you respect the gauge. Both yarns should be of similar thickness I believe that the Myak is thinner than Clinton Hill Cashmere so I am not sure that they would work well together.
@susanwingblade17995 жыл бұрын
I LOVE all of your projects. That sweater is just amazing and looks beautiful on you, Melissa. Have either of you ever knit with Berroco Andean Mist? Do you think that might be an alternative to the mohair/silk blends? I've tried to use the mohair with merino and it is bothering my skin more than I had hoped. I just love the look! Thanks!!
@EspaceTricotPodcast5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for all of your enthusiasm!! Brushed Alpaca can be a substitue for Mohair and there are some nice options out there from Lang (Lusso) or from Drops. Thought the textures and weights can be different you still get a nice fluffy texture with a Halo 😊
