Fantastic location you're living at. High diversity of animals, lovin it. For my photo walks (OM1 & 150-400/4.5) I'm just using 1/2500 sec and auto ISO as a default to be able for BIF. Then lowering down the S for perched birds. The lever is a great simple tool, I'm using it for the same switch as you :-) Greetings from Switzerland!

Love your morning walks! New subscriber here, from Canada’s Vancouver Island. Your patches of Gorse are just like our invasive Scotch Broom here… we have tons of it! I’m inspired now to see if I can catch any birds perching among the pretty yellow; it’s out in bloom right now too! Thanks for sharing!

My typical setup is my EM 1 mkiii with the 100-400, plus the 12-100. I have a sling pack that allows me to switch between lenses on the fly, making it possible to capture birds and landscapes on hikes. Great video!

I have this combo. It is a great lens for someone (like me) who is a more casual wildlife shooter and can't justify the 150-400 f4.5. But I can't get shutter speeds as low as you are using and still get sharp images! By the way, do you use both IS systems - camera and lens - or just the camera's?

I only use ibis. It's 5 instead of 3 the lens limit is to.

Used ibis only when I shot this lens. Imho it's better, smoother, quicker to engage and can be controlled via custom menus immediately when switching those, unlike having to press the button on the lens in addition. @@donaldmiller7098

Thanks Espen for the shot of the Blue Tit, they have always been a favourite of mine (my dad made nesting box's for our garden in London). I have an E-M10 Mk IV with M.Zuiko ED40-150mm f4.0-5.6 lens. I'm not getting the best out of it . Not for want of trying. btw thanks for the tip on binos I'm looking at getting some. Davo , Western Australia.

Thanks for the "morning walks" series. The videos are terrific. Wonderful photos. And your video clips of the sheep were hilarious. Nice addition :). I'm not sure what the yellow flowers are that seem to be all around. They are terrific. Like your method for tracking batteries.

Thxs for using this combination. I have m1 mark😢 III with 100-400 mm and I’m very satisfied with the combination. I see you are more succesfull in lower shutterspeed. Mostly I use minimal 1/800 with iso around 1000. Nice video

Again, great video! I am enjoying this series, so keep them coming! One question I have, if you're willing, is what your feelings are about putting filters, especially UV filters that camera shops always recommend for protecting your lens glass, onto your lenses. Perhaps a video discussing this would be of interest to folks. Thanks again for your videos, and the OM Systems Wildlife Photography course you did, which I found extremely helpful. I recently got the OM-1 mkii, so I'm also curious as to what, if any, changes you made for that camera, from your original OM-1 setting.
@EspenHelland4 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot Peter! I don’t tend to use the UV filter, maybe if I was doing something where to potential for scratches were higher. I always use my lens hood which tends to protect my lens from banging into things. Not too many changes for the OM-1ii but I will update the course when I can find some time. Cheers 🙂

enjoying the series, thanks! I recently moved to this setup and very happy with portability and quality one question around the peak design / lens attachement for 100 - 400, noticed you attach 2 anchors to lens foot and there is an extra "plate" that doesn't come with lens and the anchor point that came with peak design is also smaller in my case. tldr: what are the anchors attached to? thanks
@2o4II112II26o24 ай бұрын
Hello Alex -what you're looking for is a Peak Design 'standard plate' . It can be screwed-in to a normal threaded hole for a tripod's screw, and the peak design anchors can be threaded through two of its holes. Hope that helps. David

hi, thanks for your viswos. a question: the om system om1 body and olympus 100-400 les, works with both stabilizations or only with sensor stabilizator?
@EspenHelland8 күн бұрын
Unfortunately the 100-400 doesn't sync with the body so the stabilisation isn't as good as with some of the other lenses. Mostly I find it to be fine, but when filming at 400mm there's definitely more shake.
